A/n: If you remember all those years ago, I did a Glornative cover of this song with my previous randomness book! Now, almost three years later, I decided to do a remake of this cover, with two characters I hold near and dear to my heart! Our beloved badass duo, Dusk and Victoria from my fanfiction From the Ashes! (I know I spoil y'all too much with content from her! She's my favorite child, don't tell anyone!) Anyways, I hope you enjoy this cover while we wait for the final season to arrive! Only 120 more days!

And for context, this takes place during the Season 2 finale during the battle with the Commission, and that one scene with Dusk and Victoria. (Iykyk)

Victoria: Dusk, why couldn't you have stayed calm for once?
Instead of flying off the handle!


Victoria: I hope you're happy

Dusk: I hope you're happy!

I hope you're proud how you would grovel in submission

Victoria: Dusky, listen to me, just let me say I'm sorry
We can still be the bad*ss duo
What we've worked and waited for

Dusk: I know
But I don't want it

Dusk: Something has changed within me
Something is not the same
I'm through with playing by the rules of someone else's game


Dusk: Too late for second-guessing
Too late to go back to sleep

Dusk: It's time to try defying gravity

Dusk: I'm through accepting limits

Commission members: *They charge towards Victoria* There she is! Don't let her get away!

Victoria: What are you doing? Let go of me, you imbeciles!

Dusk: *Rises off the ground, her fiery wing igniting* It's not her! She has nothing to do with it! I'm the one of you all want! It's me!

Victoria: Dusky!

Dusk: It's me! So if you care to find me
Look to the western sky
As someone told me lately
"Everyone deserves the chance to fly"

Dusk: And if I'm flying solo
At least I'm flying free
To those who ground me
Take a message back from me!


Dusk: Tell them how I am defying gravity
I'm flying high, defying gravity
And soon, I'll match them in renown!

Dusk: And nobody in all of Dallas
No phoenix that there is or was
Is ever gonna bring me down!

Victoria: I hope you're happy!

 

Commission members: Look at her! She's a Hargreeves, get her! *They start shooting at her, but Dusk's fire destroys their bullets*

Dusk: Bring me down! 

Commission members: No one mourns the Hargreeves! So we've got to bring her...

Dusk: Ooooh! 

Commission members: Down!
