The moment Aidan saw Serena emerge from the fog backstage, he tightly wrapped his arms around her, still in awe of her performance. He hadn't heard her sing like that since before Eliana was born, and their kiss onstage in front of everyone Glorious and Imaginative replayed in his head like a broken record. It was one of the most magical moments of his life. "You did amazing, love!" he whispered. "Thanks, Aidy bear. And you're gonna do amazing up there, I know it!" Serena grinned.
"Aidan! Two minutes till you're on!" One of the crew members tapped his shoulder, double-checking his outfit and thrusting a black guitar into his hands. The instrument had just a few ropes of gold delicately painted on it. It was the perfect design and perfect for the color scheme of the Fearless Era. "I've gotta get going now, but you and I are definitely gonna have to record a version of Lover this weekend," Aidan kissed Serena's cheek before hugging Maisie for good luck and walked on stage.
The amount of smoke engulfing the stage was overwhelming. It practically covered the stage so you couldn't see what was in front of you. But just as the fog started clearing up, the backup dancers had changed into gold jumpsuits and Aidan gently strummed his guitar, blocking out the intro song for just a moment until his focus turned back to the crowd in front of him.
Aidan: There's something 'bout the way
The street looks when it's just rained
There's a glow off the pavement
I walk you to the car
And I know you want me to ask you to dance right there
In the middle of the parking lot, yeah
Oh, yeah
We're driving down the road
I wonder if you know
I'm trying so hard not to get caught up now
But you're just so cool
Running my hands through your hair
Absentmindedly making me want you
And I don't know how it gets better than this
You take my hand and drag me head first, fearless!
And I don't know why but with you, I'd dance
In a storm with you in your best dress, fearless!
Well, you stood there with me in the doorway
My hands shake, I'm not usually this way but
You pull me in and I'm a little more brave
It's the first kiss, it's flawless, really something
It's fearless!
Oh, yeah
Cause I don't know how it gets better than this
You take my hand and drag me headfirst, fearless!
And I don't know why but with you, I'd dance
In a storm with you in your best dress, fearless!
Cause I don't know how it gets better than this
You take my hand and drag me head first, fearless!
And I don't know why but with you, I'd dance
In a storm with you in your best dress, fearless!
Oh, oh
Oh-oh, yeah
Like his fiancée, Aidan felt that sense of exhilaration being in front of the crowds again. Not only that but being a part of this tour was like a dream come true. Ever since he was a young boy, he had been dreaming of performing in front of crowds like this one, where everyone was dancing and trying to catch his attention with their shouting of the lyrics. He went from performing during lunches and karaoke nights, to being the owner of the recording studio, and performing in the auditorium and celebration hall, and now a Stadium. A real live stadium.
And it was just even better knowing his family was watching him, especially his little girl. He wanted her to grow up knowing she could be anything she wanted, and with hard work, she too might end up in a place she dreamed of.
