Why

As the cigarette smokes were puffed into the air
As the stars twinkled and shined bright in the night sky
She wrapped her arms around me and nuzzled into my neck
"I'd love you all your life, babe", she muttered
Promising more to herself than me it seemed.

The cold mountain breeze blew through her hair
Past my ears, as if trying to whisper some unforeseen future
"Look!! A shooting star",she exclaimed in child-like amazement
I barely smiled at her, 'coz my mind was occupied somewhere else.

Suddenly I felt her lips crashing on mine
And within seconds I became warm,
The ravine beside us, also seemed to enjoy our open display of love
And the cliff we were standing on became the most romantic place in the world.

The cigarette had puffed out by then, I threw it down the cliff
And hugged her tight, as she bit sultrily on my lower lip,
All was going well, until I felt a cold metal touching my neck
Where her hands held me moments back, was a gush of blood pouring.

She slowly dragged me to the edge
And before falling down
I had only heard her say,
"I did keep my promise, to love you till the end of your life",
And blackness engulfed me, as I wondered "Why?!"
