For Freedom's Sake

How can I forget those vibes,

that they left behind while they laid their lives;

For this country's freedom's sake,

there weren't anything else they wanted to take.

For this country's glory be made,

they had let their lives to fade;

They had made the world see,

how ferocious even the natives could be.

They were without even proper ammunition or so,

but they hadn't let their heads stoop low.

Revolution was their bride,

from whom they didn't want their feelings to hide;

They had made uncertainty the way of their lives,

about which they didn't have any jibes.

In the temple of their country's freedom, they had

brought their youths as burning incense;

around which they hadn't put any fence.

They wanted the thoughts behind its' sweet smell to spread far,

and create flames which would burn bright as a star.

All for this country's freedom's sake;

there wasn't anything else they wanted to take.

Well, so this is a poem I dedicate to all the freedom fighters and revolutionaries around the world. 24th August is the birthday of Shivaram Hari Rajguru, a little known freedom fighter of India who actively participated in India's struggle for freedom. I wish to put up a few chapters on such lesser known freedom fighters whose journeys have inspiring stories to tell. What say!?
