1 week later

A T R E U S

Sighing in content, I blinked awake slowly, leaning into the soft touch that woke me in the first place. Smiling through my drowsiness at the angel above me, I stretched lightly while reaching out for her.

"Shouldn't you be asleep?" My words were groggy as I took in how she sat up, dressed and looking fully awake.

Humming softly, she combed back my no doubt unruly hair, "I like to watch you sleep."

"That's not creepy at all." I joked, moving to sit up.

"I have to go." She whispered after spraying a glance at her watch. Groaning, I leaned back on both arms, taking in her outfit better.

"Where? Just stay here with me." I made a show of passing my fingers through my hair and flexing my biceps to draw in her attention.

"I have a flight to catch, so stop trying." I sucked on my teeth, titling my head and allowing my eyes to follow her every move as she stood from my bed. Humming as she bent over, back to me to get the pillow.

"Come here so we can make up for the two weeks I'm not going to see you." I rolled my eyes at the thought, cursing internally. I had meetings upon meetings that coincidentally all clash with hers and her races. The most I'm going to see her for the next two weeks is on the T.V. or on face time.

"You do know that make up means we make up for the time we lost not going to lose. And they call me a German."

I threw my head back and laughed at her soft monologue at the end, "That's because you are baby...a very sexy one too."

"Why thank you." She said monotony and disappeared into my walk-in closet.

Groaning, I threw the duvet aside and hopped off the bed, following.

It was still very early in the morning; the sun hasn't even risen yet. We had more than enough time to get a few last rounds in. And like any other time that we've been together we didn't have to worry about disturbing anyone because we were at my apartment, all alone.

She cursed as I picked her up over my shoulder, stopping her from packing her suitcase and took her back to bed with me.

My door being slammed open wakes me from my sleep the second time that morning. Reaching under the pillow for my gun while pulling the sheet higher on my waist, I cursed aloud when I saw who it was.

"Why are you here?" I questioned to my older sister, shooing for her to leave. Odessa looked up from her phone, not bothered in the slightest.

"I don't even know; mom just drove here this morning for no reason." Her words faded as she turned on her heel and left, leaving my bedroom door open.

Placing the gun back in its original place, I grabbed my boxers from the end of the bed and pulled them on with speed before going to the bathroom to get ready for the day.

Only when I had finished showering and was on the task of fixing my hair did I notice all the red marks on my neck. I admired them for a moment before continuing. I'm sure she had more.

When I was finished with improved tie tying skills because of my beautiful girlfriend, I stopped short at the foot of my bed. Chuckling, I collected the lace underwear that I got cursed out in German for hiding and placed it in my new personal stash.

I heard their loud arguing before I saw them.

"Really you two didn't have to come here." I said in greeting to Galina and Odessa but kissed my mother on the cheek instead. She looked to my tie and hummed in approval.

"We missed you too brother." Galina retorted feigning excitement.

"You're going to work with mom," I stated to Galina after taking in her professionally dressed self, "But what are you doing here?" I turned to Odessa who looked more comfortable than professional.

"She's going to work with me too, here your father sent you this." My mother said and passed me a brown bag that I knew the contents of before even opening it. The sweet cinnamon aroma said it all.

"Don't you have a dress code?" I asked softly but loud enough for Odessa to hear.

"I do and I also have a meeting this morning so let's go." Odessa stared at me as she got of the stool but followed behind our mother well not before sending me a harsh middle finger.

As we left my apartment complex, I got a front row seat to the 'Galina trilogies: Life of recklessness with the privileges of being the last child'.

Due to their similar height, Galina easily wrapped her arm around our mother's shoulder giving her the rundown of her exciting life.

"Do you think I can get pregnant if I have sex with a girl?" Galina asked.

"Of course, not Galina, why-" Sometime I wonder why they even try with her.

"A girl from college claimed that I was her baby's mother and I don't think I had sex with her." She said, scratching her head on the last few words.

"She's lying to you, why do I even have to tell you this?"

"Because when I'm drunk, I don't know what goes down and I was drunk as shit last night and still am to be honest." She admitted. Odessa sighed to the ceiling, just as speechless to her logic as I was.

She sighed and shrugged like it wasn't a big deal then met the concerned stare that mom gave her, "My life is adventurous mama."

"I can see that."

-

"Castro."

Stiffening at the voice, I turned away from the live case that was going on in the courtroom to Vance himself.

"Vance, it's been a while."

"I was busy." He looked quite devilish, hair out of place and suit rumpled.

"I know it was you, you and that family of yours." He whispered vehemently, though with a bit of unease. I noted that he stayed feet away from me, more than he did before when threatening me.

"You know...what are you going on about?" I feigned confusion and it worked for a moment as his eyes widened with fear before going back to normal.

"I don't know how you did it but I know it was you all who sold us out."

I hummed, still keeping up the confused facade, "You worry me Vance, should i call the auth-"

"No!" He said a bit too loudly and drawing unwanted attention.

"No, just listen to me okay, they bribed me into doing this. I-I had nothing to do with that, just please get them off my back. They're listening and watching and waiting..." His eyes went wide again as he looked around frantically.

Since the whole scheme against us we set up the perfect plan for it. Those emails showed that Vance was anything but a victim, he contacted them first too driven with vengeance over a job he lost to me. Now the gang members who lost their leader and heir are after him, the one person both persons dealt with last and the one person that was expendable enough for them to get revenge and not end up on FBI's raider.

"I'm sorry Vance but you must have the wrong person because your words are foreign to me." The best skill of any lawyer is that they could lie and that was being out to use here.

"I don't, just please-" He stops short at the loud opening and closing of the heavy doors at the entrance of the court. I don't know what or who he saw but it set him in motion as he ducked his head down and hurried away.

Well, that's taken care of.
