I know their plan. The thought echoed inside of Droplet's head. I know what they're planning, and I can stop it. They plan to take over the kingdoms by making their dragons queen. Or king, from the looks of that RainWing. And they need a SeaWing. I need to warn Rainstorm.

Or, you could turn yourself in. The voice suggested helpfully. They need a royal SeaWing. The one thing they can't fake, due to our royal glow in the dark scales. Turn yourself in, join them, and protect your kingdom.

No. Droplet thought. Get out of my head. I know those are not my thoughts. Go and leave me alone.

Droplet, you're being ridiculous. How could anything other than you be in your head?

Droplet clutched her head, wishing she could claw the voice out and make it go away. How would something like this get in her head?

Then it hit her. So hard that she barely managed not to laugh out loud. Animus magic.

You're being ridiculous. The voice told her as she hurried quietly back to her fallen tree. It was hard to doubt her own thoughts. She could only half think of a plan to get rid of the voice, what with the other half of her telling her she was being silly and to stop.

Droplet squirmed into her fallen tree sleep spot. Her mind was filled with shouting, like she was telling herself to stop. She could barely think her own thoughts, and yet, her claws moved to pull the silver, blue diamond studded bracelet from her wrist. Its spell was a bit too convenient, too perfect. And the weird thoughts had started when she put it on.

What are you doing? You need this magic. Stop being silly.

With a careful tug, the bracelet slid off her wrist, landing coolly in her talons.

Droplet drew in a breath, feeling as if her head was suddenly clear. The voice was still there, telling her to stop, but it was fainter. Easier to resist.

She clutched the bracelet tightly, raised it above her head, and smashed it as hard as she could into a rock. Again and again, until the silver was cracked and the diamonds fell out. Once the last diamond was dislodged, there was a sudden shift.

Droplet's head was clear. The voice was silent. Fear, real and steady, flooded her mind. I'm alone I'm alone I'm alone. I want to go home. Why am I here? But the thoughts stopped when the bracelet turned warm in her talons. Droplet yelped and dropped it.

Mist rose from the cracked remains of the bracelet, and when it cleared, a dragon with deep green scales and sapphire blue eyes was standing in the little shelter, her cold glare fixed on Droplet. When she spoke, it was with a hiss, like the sizzling sound when raindrops hit fire.

"Well, you really are clever, aren't you, Droplet dear." Princess Orca said.
