Although this disorder can have physical effects it is a mental disorder, some systems can be having flashbacks. Some can be very intense, causing hallucinations. Where the whole scenery around you can change taking you back to the place of your trauma. Certain smells, loud noises, touch, events, accidents all can bring on a flashback. Some may also suffer from Dissociation where you can feel disconnected from yourself or others. One can nightmares of the event that can feel very real and be upsetting.
