One of Reginald Hargeeves' rules was to never befriend anyone outside of the Academy. They were normal, losers, they would use you, or so he taught. But Diego wouldn't trade you for the world. It was ordinary how you met, you asking for a pencil, to starting small conversations during break, to hanging out. Just like that you became friends. You became aware of his gift, and he often demonstrated to you, loving how fascinated it made you. Diego was always one for attention. He told you his siblings were like him, but you never met them. Until you happened to be in the bank with your p/g when robbers broke in and forced everyone down to the floor. You were terrified, complying with everything asked so as to not get shot. When the Hargreeves arrived, Diego was surprised to see you cowering in the corner, and he immediately switched from cocky and playful to calm and calculated. Knowing you were at risk made him feel weird, something he couldn't quite understand, but one thing was for sure, he didn't like anyone threatening you.
