Unforgivable curses, something that made Eliana's stomach turn. Just as they had managed to sit through the example, watching as three spiders were forced to endure the worst things imaginable, the sight of their dead bodies sent a shiver down Eliana's spine. Students around the room appeared a little green as they tried not to faint or throw up. Professor Moody had appeared unaffected and instead, rather excited as if he was anticipating something great. "Right, as it is, I can show you curses, hexes and jinxes all I want but unless you can be prepared and defend yourself, there is no point teaching you anything at all. So," pausing for a moment, Moody watched the room closely as he seemed to size everyone up, checking for danger, "who can tell me how you can defend yourself against the unforgivable curses?" Silence filled the room as Ravenclaw students who had answered his last few questions didn't seem up to talking anymore. Just as Moody was preparing to answer his own question, a single hand was lifted and uneasy brown eyes met him. "Miss Abaza, do you know?" Eliana's confidence seemed to swell within her and she dared to branch a smile.

"Professor Moody, the killing curse and the torture curse cannot be defended against and only with strong will and determination can the Imperius curse be overcome. It takes a lot of force and strength. The killing curse also only has one believed survivor." Moody watched Eliana closely as she spoke, his magical eye examining the class from time to time but his focus seemed trained to Eliana and even after she spoke his eyes lingered for a short while.

"Correct, ten points to Ravenclaw. Only with constant vigilance can anyone try to survive when the attacker attempts to use one of these curses. How Potter survived is unknown but the only known way to survive is to interrupt the caster before they manage to get the words out. And this...Mr Entwhistle put that away...can only be achieved by constant vigilance." Kevin Entwhistle scrambled to place his Fanged Frisbee away before Moody took it from him and the famous eye that was strapped on wiggled across the room again as he continued to talk to the class. "Now, up on your feet. I won't be casting Avada Kedavra or Crucio but I want to see everyone attempt to block out the Imperious curse." Gulps and wide, glistening eyes met the man before he suddenly stood and everyone else jumped to their feet. With the wave of Professor Moody's wand, the desks flew to the side of the room and the class huddled together.

"What do we do?" The question was unanswered when Professor Moody sniffed deeply and then pointed his wand at one of the boys.

"Mr Entwhistle, you seemed desperate to interrupt my lesson, perhaps you could go first." Trembling, the fourth-year student carefully stepped forward and before he knew what to do or how to defend himself, Mad-Eye-Moody had cast the spell. "Now, go kick a wall." Immediately, without any form of hesitation, the short Ravenclaw approached a wall and used all of his force to kick the solid stone. "Constant vigilance remember, Mr Entwhistle you aren't even trying to fight me." Seemingly disappointed, or bored, Professor Moody removed the spell and watched as the boy tried not to cry as he held his foot and sat on the floor. "Miss Li, step forward." Nearly crying, Su stepped forward and waited for the spell to be cast. As soon as it was cast, he demanded that she should try to dance like a ballerina, as Su embarrassed herself in front of everyone, Eliana kept her eyes on Kevin who had finally let his tears drop to the floor. "Miss Abaza, if you insist on not paying attention then you can go next." Without thinking, Eliana stepped forward and met Moody's eye as she took in a deep breath.

"Yes, Professor." Eliana's reply had been masked by Moody casting the spell and as soon as she was under it, she felt a wave of sleep cast over her and Eliana couldn't be sure of where she was, all she could recognise was the comfort that she felt.

"Run around the room shouting the alphabet." Eliana stepped forward quickly but stopped short, her mind was fogging up and the world was getting a little gloomier as Eliana tried to stop herself from moving. She wasn't sure why she didn't want to do it but as soon as her brown eyes caught sight of Kevin who was still sat on the floor, hunched over his foot, Eliana felt her mind become clearer as she walked right up to him and placed a careful hand on his back. "Very good, we should try again." As he spoke, Eliana regained her senses and met Moody's eye.
