The first thing I see is the body. It's only a foot or so in front of me. I recognize the style of the clothing as what our rescuers were wearing yesterday. The man is hanging by his neck, his face purple and bloated.

It's not until I'm staring at his vacant eyes that I can smell death. How had we missed that?

I scan the rest of the room, taking in the rest of the bodies dangling from the ceiling. The ropes are tied into hooks set into the ceiling. It's bizarrely purposeful.

I take a breath and stand up, as straight and as tall as I can.

It's fine.

We're not getting attacked.

Everything is okay.
