DALLAS' TWO BIGGEST FUCK UPS ☂︎︎

APPARENTLY, when Luther Hargreeves; space-boy, monkey-man, certified asshole- lands in Dallas 1963 he decided to become Tyler Durden from Fight Club.

At least that was the statement Charlotte had dropped on a still flustered but slightly more composed Five as they walked closer to the open pit. Another pop culture comment, another movie he had to watch and another moment where she managed to get him to both roll his eyes and push a soft smile at the same time.

But there was no time for distractions.

The giant man opposite of Luther had landed a large hit on him. Luther stumbled back, the man egging him on mockingly. The fight vanished for a second as Five pulled her and Vanya downwards to a crouch. Luther's fists collided with the other man and Charlotte was surprised no one was ogled by the abnormal amount of hair on his arm. "Looks like he's winning." she commented.

Five stayed silent, his eyes fixed on his brother.

That was when Luther hesitated, his eyes seeming to fade out of focus. Charlotte's brows furrowed in confusion. Why was he stopping? The other man punched him square in the face and she winced. The crowd was shouting and reacting very poorly. Luther did nothing, allowing the other man to hit him again.

"Look, he's pummeling him." Vanya muttered.

The other man stopped, obviously confused as to why his opponent refused to hit him. By the looks of it, Luther welcomed it, nodding to him firmly. Luther was thrown against the wall they hid behind with a thud. "Oh my god, Luther." Five hissed.

"Why isn't he fighting back?" Vanya asked.

Charlotte sighed. "I don't know."

The one-sided fight continued and it was gruesome for the girl to watch. She didn't always like Luther but this was something she could have gone without seeing. At one point, his entire body had lifted off the ground, falling back with a massive thud. Charlotte's eyes were wide as Luther stirred barely. "Shit. Luther." she heard Five whisper, his own jaw hanging open at the sight of his brother defeated.

Vanya stared blankly. "Why didn't he fight back?"

The crowd left with a series of boos and uproars and once they cleared Charlotte rushed forward, allowing her hands to hover over his face trying her best to heal his still smiling face.

"What is taking her so long?"

Charlotte took a deep breath. "Relax, Five. They need time. They've been through a lot."

The sun washed over her in waves but the cool metal of the car relieved some of the bitter burn. She could barely see the bricks due to the light so her hand shielded her face from the glare. One thing she could tell without seeing was that Five Hargreeves was, as he was a lot, angry. He grumbled. "I've been through a lot but I'm here. I'm trying to fix everything."

"And they'll be here." she reassured. "But give them a minute to cope with the fact that the world is ending for a second time. Or that you've uprooted their life here entirely. That's a lot to deal with in two days." she looked up at him, his lips moving to say something which she interjected before he could say. "Just because you can handle it doesn't mean you can invalidate how they feel."

He huffed, knowing there would be no proper response to her reason. "We're all coping in our own fucked up ways."

"I don't believe in coping." he muttered, sinking against the car door.
