Subaru was, as usual, making the weekly trip to the grocery to buy "snacks". Those would eventually be thrown away, but he needed to keep appearances if he wanted to pass as a human.
Thinking about food, he was indeed kind of hungry. Surely his parents would be waiting for him to un-freeze some human flesh for dinner. Which also reminded him that soon they would need to hunt down another human. In a couple of days they would have nothing but human bones to make soup with. Bother.
And so, he paid for the God awful human food. And went out into the night. But suddenly, he saw a shimmering. A mirage perhaps...?
- Too much time playing videogames, I guess - he grumbled while rubbing his eyes.
And then he saw light... Daylight. A flood of colors, smells and sounds that came instantly. A bustling street in broad daylight that seemed out of medieval europe. With people clothed with anticuated clothes, and "beast-men" sprinkled all arround. What the hell?!, he thought standing still. Subaru didn't believe what he was seeing. This couldn't be real.
