Author's POV

"What have you done, Yadhu?" Shreya rubbed her forehead, looking at the reports in front of her. She was in a dilemma as she was unable to decide what to do. On one side was her best friend, who she loved like a brother and on the other hand, was an innocent girl who deserved justice. She fisted her hair in frustration. She traced her fingers on the letter left for her and Arjun by Yadhu.

"Shrey, Arjun, I'm sorry...This may be the last time I'm burdening you. I'm embarrassed by the sins that I have committed. I-I have unknowingly destroyed an innocent girl's life. And Shrey, you were right...my drinking habit has finally ended me up committing a crime that I cannot revert in any way. If I live, I will burn in this guilt forever; that's why I decided to pay for my deeds by my death. Trust me; I went to the police station to give justice to Kanika. But do you know, even the policeman thinks that I'm a God who saves people when in reality I'm just a monster who destroyed a young girl's life? You both know me well enough to figure out by now why I came to such a decision. Maybe I'm a coward who doesn't want to face the humiliation. And every second I live on this earth, my guilt will consume me. I'm ashamed of myself and my actions. You know me well, guys ...I can live my life in pain ...I can live my life neglected by people I thought were my family...but I cannot live my life as a rapist...I will live dying every day with that truth of my life. So I decided to be selfish for once...I'm sorry I'm burdening you guys again and again...but I have one last request to you both...if possible, try to find Kanika's family and take care of her. I have asked granddad's lawyer to transfer my apartment and bank balance to Kanika's name. Thank you both for being there for me, guys. I love you both, and I'm sorry for being a bothersome friend."

Tears clouded her eyes as she read and reread Yadhu's letter. She could understand her friend's mental condition and blamed herself for not arranging a counselor for him. She realized that Yadhu was falling slowly into depression. Her heart cried out in pain for her friend, who was now in stable condition. She dreaded his fate once he is alright and discharged. The police will arrest him. Shreya's affection towards Yadhu wanted her to burn the reports in front of her and save him from the torment. But the self-righteous person in her didn't want to do injustice to an innocent girl. After thinking for what felt like hours, she decided to hand over the reports to the police. Just as she was about to walk out, Arjun walked into her cabin, followed by a policeman.

"Shrey, The SI wants to speak to you," Arjun informed her.

"Sure, Please take your seat, Sir, "Shreya greeted the SI nervously. She knew sooner or later she would have to face the police.

"Hello Doctor Madam, I'm here to discuss Doctor Sir's case," the man talked in a pleasant manner bewildering Shreya.

Before she could reply, a nurse barged in anxiously, calling out for Arjun.
