*Author's Note*- I know I'm late posting this week, but I've been on vacation and haven't had much time. Plus I didn't want to up a half-assed chapter, so I finished it and posted it a little late. The Loki season finale was this past Wednesday! Also considering that I start rehearsals for a musical on Monday and for the next three weeks I'll be working on that five days a week I have decided to change my posting day to Saturday. So expect new uploads on Saturdays from now on. Ok now that I've explained everything I should warn you that this chapter is the start of something, leading into the next book in the series. Again I haven't written that far in advance but I have made notes of ideas and I have a lot of plans for both this book and the next. SO please enjoy!

As soon as the quin jet landed at the compound I walked out clutching my arm. The first person I see is Loki and he smiles, relieved, but his relieved expression soon morphs into one of concern at the sight of my bleeding arm. I smile faintly at Loki as he rushes to me.

"What happened, are you ok?" Loki asks, putting both his hands on my face and inspecting me for any more injuries.

"I'm fine Loki, I just have a cut on my arm." Loki sighs, kissing the top of my head. "Will you walk with me to the med bay?"

"Of course darling, let's get you tended to."

I spend about half an hour in the med bay as Bruce tends to my cut. It's nothing bad, just deep enough that he had to do stitches. Loki stays with me the whole time and holds my hand as Bruce stitches me up.

"Alright, Sarah. You should be good, just don't overexert your arm or the stitches might come out." Bruce instructs.

"Thank's Bruce," I say, hopping off the bed and pulling Loki with me.

I walk with Loki down the hallways leading to the training room, but Loki grabs my un-injured arm and stops me.

"I know what you're thinking, and no," Loki says. I give him a pleading look.

"Why not? Come on Loki, please, please, pleeeeeease!" I beg, pulling on his arm. Loki rolls his eyes with a smile on his face, giving away he's not actually annoyed.

"No, darling. You're hurt, there will be no more training today, you must rest." Loki insists, pulling me in the direction of our room. I reluctantly follow him until we reach our door.

As soon as we enter Loki goes to the bookshelf, picks up a new book, and sits on the bed.

"Come, my love, I'll read to you." I smile at him lovingly, I just love it when he reads to me. Loki's sultry, alluring voice acts as a blanket as he reads, covering me, holding me, and shielding me from all the bad in the world. I allow the rest of my worries to welt away like honey to the sound of his heartbeat.

But unfortunately, the peace we shared that night was shattered the next morning. Although the cut on my arm healed unusually fast, the job still wasn't done.

"Where do we go from here?" Steve asks after Val and I explained everything we found in that laboratory, including showing them my mother's file.

"There is one place I can think of." I offer reluctantly, I didn't want it to come to this but we have no other leads.

"What is it?" Steve asks.

"My childhood home," I say, a deadpan look on my face. I don't care for the memories it holds and I despise how it still haunts me, but this is the only option we have and I'm not willing to just wait. Loki looks over at me with concern. "Maybe my mother left something there, a clue, something." Everyone thinks it over for a minute before Val speaks,
