The cold night air bites into my skin as I continue to fly through the air. I vaguely recognize that I'm in some part of New York so I follow familiar places until I can see the faint silhouette of the Avengers compound in the distance. I'm so tired, but I keep going. I'm so close to the compound, so close to Loki, so close to home.

I land on the front lawn of the compound; not so gracefully, but I manage to keep my footing despite my baby bump. Tears well in my eyes and freeze on my cheeks as I walk to the door.

I'm only maybe a couple of dozen paces from the door when I double over in pain. My abdomen clenches in on itself and I scream in agony. I'm so close! Please don't let me die now. But I'm paralyzed in the snow on all fours, trying to make anything more comfortable. No relief comes and I slowly sink to the snow to lay on my side.

"L-Loki..." I groan amidst the blizzard, "Loki please." My vision blurs and my ears ring as I lay in the snow, freezing to death. The cramping pain in my stomach has subsided but I can't bring myself to get up. I'm ready, I'm ready for death.

I hear a door swing open and someone running towards me but I can't bring myself to look up or even open my eyes.

"Sarah! Sarah! Sarah please!" I hear a familiar voice begging, followed by a choked-up sob. Strong arms pick me up and run with me into the warmth of the compound. "Stark! Bruce! Thor! Anyone! Help!" I hear the worried voice yell. The warmth of the compound is inviting but I'm still shivering beyond control, and probably suffering from frostbite.

"L-Loki?" I mumble, asking for confirmation. The arms holding me tighten.

"It's me, darling, it's me, you're home, you're safe," Loki whispers as he continues to rush with me through the compound. "Please forgive me, my love. I looked for you, but they would not let me leave."

"I don't blame you," I mumble back, nuzzling my head more comfortably into the crook of his neck. Loki lets out a sigh of relief and I hear fast footsteps approaching.

"Loki what's going on?" A firm voice asks. "Oh my god..."

"Get Bruce into the medical room. Now!" Loki yells.

I must have passed out for a bit because when I opened my eyes next I was laying on a medical bed with my legs propped up. I looked to the side and saw Loki holding my hand and Bruce looking at some computers in the room.

"Loki?" I ask meagerly. My voice is sore from the cold wind.

"Darling," Loki says, clutching my hand tighter and staring lovingly down at me.

"What is..." I half ask.

"Bruce is checking you out right now." Loki removes his hand from mine and rubs the taught skin on my stomach. "Why didn't you tell me?"

"I didn't know," I answered with tears in my eyes once again.

"Is it..."

"Yes, you're the father Loki." Loki's head drops as a single tear runs down his cheek.

"I'm so sorry darling. I should have been there, for you and for the baby." I reach my hand up to caress Loki's cheek and I wipe away his tears.

"You didn't know." Another tear escapes Loki's eye and I squeeze his hand in return.

"You are very cold, just on the brink of frostbite, and nearly to a fatal temperature of hypothermia. We've warmed the bed and added any source of heat we can to keep the baby warm." Bruce explains, walking over to both of us and standing between my legs, he nod's towards the blanket covering my legs and I nod. Bruce lifts up the fabric and begins to inspect me.
