Sivaangi tried to ignore Ashwin's presence, she really did. But much like her life, it was near to impossible. Her mind had a funny thing of beinf extremely hyper aware of her surroundings when she was around him.
Trying to diffuse the tension in the room, she started humming quietly hoping it would keep her distracted.
"I like that song. Rahman sir ku nee padina fiest song la?"
(I like that song. Your first song with Rahman sir right?)
Sivaangi turned to face him, she didn't think he would remember or notice.
She nodded, "Yes. It was for Vijay sir's movie."
Ashwin nodded and looked away. Unable to hold it in, he said, "You sang it at our wedding."
Sivaangi shifted her weight. A smile crept it's way on her face unconsciously as she remembered that day. "Aama, you also sang Kannazhga," she giggled.
Ashwin looked at her offended, "Neethan paadu paaadu nu sonna. Illana naa padirka maaten."
(You were the one who wanted me to sing. I wouldn't have, otherwise)
Sivaangi scoffed, "Neenga appo mattuma padininga. Aniku naal poora ore paatu than."
(You were singing the whole day, though.)
Ashwin raised his eyebrows, "It was a happy day."
Sivaangi's stomach flipped when he said. She so badly wanted to ask why they got divorced if it was such a happy day? But that would be unfair, the decision to separate was as much as hers.
Ashwin cleared his throat and asked hesitantly, "Kelvi paaten, you're setting up a studio with Ani sir."
(I heard, you're setting up a studio with Ani sir?)
Sivaangi looked at him amused, "Yeah. Independent artists kaaga oru studio."
"Oh.."
Sivaangi raised an eyebrow,."Enna?"
(What?)
"Illa onnum illa."
(No, nothing.)
Sivaangi narrowed her eyes. "Illa etho solanum nenaikiringa aana solla matringa."
(No, you want to say something. But you aren't.)
Ashwin sighed and asked, "Neenga rendu perum..?"
(Are you two…?)
Sivaangi laughed in disbelief, "Really, Ashwin?"
Ashwin looked away silently. She didn't realise that there was so much unsaid between them. It would be one of the main reasons why their marriage fell apart, it was that they didn't speak up their mind and their insanely busy schedule contributed to that.
"Anaiku divorce panum bothu ithu thonala la?"
(Didn't think of all this when we got divorced?)
"Sivaangi.." Ashwin said. "Don't speak as if you didn't want it either. Namma rendu perum senthu edurha decision than. We didn't have time for each other. Unnake theriyum."
(Don't speak as if you didn't want it either. We both took the decision together. We didn't have time for each other, you know this.)
Sivaangi huffed, "I agree that I wanted it too. Aana athu naa sola varala. We didn't have time for each, othukaren. But why is it so damn hard to forget you?"
