Request from Sarahs-World

It was sunset and Surak was pacing back and forth, worry written all over his face. Bailyo, Kion and Rani were near him and they looked at eachother concerned before turning back to him. They have never seen their uncle so worried before.

All three were standing in front of the tree that Surak and his mate Nirmala were living. Well after these few moments, it wouldn't be just the two of them. Nirmala was pregnant and tonight she went into labor with their cubs. Makini was with her, helping the soon to be mother with the delivery.

Still, Surak had been worried. When it happened, he rushed to get the young mandrill for help and he alerted his niece, nephew and his nephew in law Kion. He had to wait outside of his tree as Nirmala was taken care of.

He let out a deep and worried sigh as he glanced at the entrance of the tree. Surak wanted to be with her right now. Wanted to comfort her. Wanted to be assured that both she and their cubs would be alright.

"Wow. I've never seen uncle Surak worried like this" Bailyo quietly commented, worried about his uncle. It was so rare to see him this worried before. They couldn't blame him. He was going to be a father. This was all new to him. Sure, as an uncle he looked after Rani and Bailyo. But being a father was much different to him.

"Uncle Surak?" Rani spoke and her uncle instantly stopped pacing and turned to her. She looked at her uncle worried as she approached him. "Are you ok?" She asked him as Bailyo and Kion joined her sides.

Surak took a deep breath and sighed "No. I'm not fine. I'm scared" he told them, looking down with worry. Bailyo's ears fell concerned and he walked up to his uncle and nuzzled him affectionately.

Surak smiled gratefully and returned the nuzzle back to his nephew. Rani joined in too as Kion stood back, smiling at how the siblings did their best to assure their uncle everything will be ok.

Surak noticed how Kion stood from and smiling at him, he motioned his head to join in. Kion was part of his family too. The young lion was surprised but smiled as he nuzzled his uncle in law.

"Thank you. All three of you" he told them gratefully as they stepped back from him. "I'm sure my cubs will have amazing cousins to play with" he commented to them, the three smiling at him.

"Uncle Surak. Was our dad this nervous as you were when we were born?" Bailyo asked him curious as both he and his stared at him.

Their uncle chuckled at them both. "He was. Your father was worried. He couldn't stop pacing and was quite impatient. It surprised me how my brother, the king, was so easily nervous about being a father" he told them, smiling amused as he remembered that moment. It was one of the few times he had ever seen his brother worry like that.

"And what did you do?" Rani asked him. "Well, I told him that there was nothing to worry. That both he and your mother would be amazing parents. And that they would not be raising their cubs alone. That I would be there to help them" he told him and his niece smiled at him.

"Then what happened to dad is no different from what's happening to you now" she told him and he stated at her surprised. "Both you and Nirmala are going to be great parents. And we'll all help you raise them" she explained to him as she, Bailyo and Kion smiled at him.

Surak chuckled at them warmly as he looked at his niece "You truly are finding your own wisdom Rani. Thank you" he told her gratefully as she smiled at him.

"Guys! Guys!" Makini's voice piped up and all four lions turned to the entrance of the tree where the mandrill came our excited.

"The cubs are here! They're finally here! And they're so cute! Oh and Nirmala is ok. She did great" She told them excitedly before she calmed down and assured everyone that Nirmala was alright.

Surak smiled relieved as he quickly walked over to the entrance. His nephew, niece and nephew in law smiled, glad to see his mood change.

Surak nodded to Makini as she nodded in return. He was grateful that the young mandrill watched over Nirmala through the process. Now it was time for him to meet his cubs.

He entered inside the tree slowly so Nirmala and her cubs wouldn't be disturbed. His mate was lying down with their cubs in her paws, licking each one clean.

She noticed her mate and smiled at him warmly.  "Surak" she said his name excited to see him and he smiled warmly at her as he walked to her and nuzzled her lovingly.

"Nirmala. Are you alright?" He asked her worriedly and she chuckled at him. He saw in her eyes exhaustion. She licked his forehead to assure him she was alright. "Tired. But I'm alright. Come look at our cubs" she told him softly as they both looked down at their cubs.

Surak walked around his mate and lied down beside her and she leaned against his chest, his soft fur and mane. His eyes widen in curiousty and amazement at seeing three small cubs mewing, their eyes and ears still close.

His eyes watered as he smiled and lovingly nuzzled his three cubs. "They're beautiful Nirmala" he whispered as she smiled at her mate and cubs.

Surak gave each one a soft kiss on their heads, his heart filled with joy and love to have them. He looked up at Nirmala and licked her cheek. "Our small cubs are finally here Surak" Nirmala whispered to him lovingly as they smiled at eachother. He chuckled at her, smiling at her as they looked at their small cubs with love and joy.
