"Wow."
Rani awed in amazement at the large waterfall flourishing in the jungle. Kion smirked amusingly at her reaction. He had brought her to the same jungle that his dad grew up in with Timon and Pumbaa. Since that were his parents felt the love that night, he thought it be nice to bring his mate her for a date.
"Yeah. It's even more beautiful at night time from what my parents told me. Come on, let's take a look." he told her, bounding off with Rani following him. He had been wanting to take her here for a long time, but being king and queen made a little hard to make some time. Thankfully, they were able to make some free time for this.
"Hey, wait up, Kion!" Rani chuckled, quickening her pace as he laughed in amusement. "Come on! Race ya to the falls!" He called out, looking back before resuming his run. The lioness caught up and blocked his way, forcing him to try and turn around. The king felt his mate pounce on him, both falling onto the grass. Laughter filled the jungle like they were small cubs again.
They calmed down from it as they stared at each other fondly. They both really missed having time just to themselves together. While as a cub, Kion saw his love story with his parents not exactly pleasing to his ears. As an adult, he felt this place would be perfect to take Rani out.
The lioness smiled warmly at her mate, giving him an affectionate lick on his cheek before she bounded off, resuming their chase. The two arrived to the falls, out of breath, and their paws burning. "I win." Rani breathed out as Kion tried to reply back but was trying to catch his breath.
Rani noticed the shimmering blue water, reflecting the orange light of the sunset. She admired it for a brief moment before leaning her head down to drink it. Kion followed her lead, finding the cold liquid soothing his throat.
He glanced up at her briefly only to pause and stare at her. To him, she seemed more beautiful than before. Her dark brown fur seemed to shimmer beneath the fading sunlight as night was coming. The blue glow from the water made her eyes sparkle. Even the tip of her tail had this glint on it. Kion thought to himself that this jungle was certainly bad, some type of trick or magic to make him more mesmerized by Rani more than ever.
She felt something stare at him, so she glanced up. A mishevious smirk came on his features as he remembered something that his dad told him when Simba spent the night with Nala. And he wanted to try it with Rani. The brown lioness frowned, lifting her head up to look at him. Without an answer, he hopped over to her side and passed her with that smirk not faltering. She watched in confusion, wondering what her mate was gonna do.
She got her answer when he came running in with a vine in his mouth and swung off it like a monkey. She watched in confusion and surprise as he fell into the water. "Kion?" She called out until she saw the water rippling and seemingly moving toward her. Suddenly, she felt large paws wrap around her neck and pull her in the water.
"Gasp!"
Rani immediately burst out of the water once she felt the cold liquid cling to her fur and body. She hurriedly climbed onto the dry surface, breathing heavily as the coldness lingered. Kion chuckled as he climbed out, joining her side. Rani turned her face to him with a smirk, and without hesitation, she pushed him back into the water as payback before darting off. "Hey!" Kion called out, leaping out of the water and chasing after her.
They ran through the grass, startling some white birds that were nestled. They felt the wind hit their faces from the birds flying and beating their wings. A nice cooling air to chase the heat they built up from running. Once Kion caught up to his mate, they playfully fought each other. Their paws wrapped around each other to try and push the other.
Rani felt her back leg hit something. A vine or branch, maybe. She wasn't sure what it was, but it made her trip, and she fell backward, pulling Kion down with her. The two rolled down on a hill until they hit the soft grass. Night time had fallen completely, but the two lions were still full of energy, booming with laughter. Kion shook his head to get the leaves and grass stuck to his mane from when they were rolling.
His eyes were closed, so he didn't see Rani pull his face down to give an affectionate lick on his cheek. That made his red eyes pop open as he felt his face get warm. He glanced down at her, surprised only to be met with the warmest smile on her face. Gently, she pushed him off her to sit up and look at him. "Kion." she whispered in a tone that sent shivers through him. Despite the night shining its stars and painting the sky with a soft purple, it was nothing compared to his mate. Her fur dark as night. Her eyes shined brighter than the stars. It made him wonder how he was lucky to be her mate
"Do you feel the love tonight? With me?" She asked him curiously, and he just smiled at her fondly. He wasn't sure if the jungle had bewitched them to fall in love even further than before. It had some effects on them, thats for sure. Maybe it let them express their love for each other in a better way. One where they weren't a king and queen. Just them letting loose and acting like they were cubs again.
"I do, Rani. More than before." He told her lovingly. Rani smiled at him as she rested her head against his shoulder, snuggled in his soft mane as they gazed up at the stars.
