Chapter 9-Live and Let Fly

Selene's POV

It had been a few days since Hiccup and I were kidnapped by Alvin. We were doing a training exercise where we would interrogate each other and it was Fishleg's turn. We tied him up to a chair to make this seem more real. "Tell us what you know about the dragons boy, tell us how you train them." Hiccup said in a deeper voice to impersonate Alvin. "I won't talk! You can't make me!" Fishlegs yelled as he struggled in the ropes. "Oh, I think we can." And I gave Crystal the signal to blow the torches out. We all knew Fishlegs had a few of the dark, so we were using it. "Hello, is anybody there? You can't, you can't leave me like in here!" Fishlegs was really freaking out down there. "Three, two, one." Crystal was counting down till Fishlegs panicked. And she was right. "Ok, ok Hiccup is the leader of the Berk Dragon Academy he rides a Night Fury named Toothless. Selene is the Dragon Tamer, she can talk to dragons and she rides a Light Fury named Crystal who can blast a plasma blast and fly into it to disappear. T-then there's Astrid. She's mean, but in a nice way. She rides a Deadly Nadder, shoots spines and loves chicken. Snoutlout rides a Monstrous Nightmare, we actually don't know who's more monstrous him or the dragons. T-then there's the twins. They share a Zippleback, actually they fight over it." Fishlegs failed this test.

The rest of us walked down in front of Fishlegs and Toothless lit our torches. We all gave Fishlegs a not impressed look. "What?! You know I hate the dark!" Fishlegs told us. "We noticed." Toothless told him then walked over to us. "Oh great, Fishlegs, more like Guppylegs. Aw geez." Tuff muttered. "Fishlegs you can't cave in. Alvin won't just turn the lights out to scare you. He had Hiccup locked in a dungeon ready to be executed, Crystal, Toothless and I were hung for days. You need to stick to the plan, your name, where you live and nothing else." I told him with a kind voice. "Alright, I'll work on it." Fishlegs told us. "Mean? I'm not mean." Astrid told me. "It's ok, Astrid. I like mean girls." Snotlout tried to flirt with her, I gave Crystal a nod and she used her tail to swipe Snotlout off his feet. "Thank you." Astrid told me and we fist-bumped. "No problem." I told her. We all left the cave and Hiccup went to talk to his dad. I went to the arena and drew Crystal who was sleeping next to Stormfly. Hiccup got back a little while later and we did not like the news he gave us. "And you agreed? Just like that?" Astrid asked the boy with anger. "What other choice did I have? He's the chief, who also happens to be my incredibly over-protective father." Hiccup told us and I just sighed.

"Well, we have to get him to change his mind!" Astrid yelled. "Stoick the Vast? Yeah um, good luck with that." Fishlegs told the girl. "So what am I supposed to do with Hookfang if he can't fly?" Snotlout asked us as Hookfang's tail lit up. "You're not helping." Hookfang scolded his rider. "You know what happens when his inner warrior is chained up?" Snotlout asked us and Hookfang hit the boy and sent him skidding right into my boot. "That! Is what happens." Snotlout told us. "Whoa! We should've caged his inner warrior a long time ago. That was awesome." Tuff said and his twin agreed. "Look, I know this is going to be hard. But I'll keep working on my dad and hopefully he will change his mind." Hiccup told us. "What if he doesn't?" I asked the boy. Astrid decided to walk back to the village with me and Hiccup. "Wow, forgot what a long walk it is from the academy. Sure would be nice to be flying home." Astrid told us with the hinting. "Why thank you Astrid, cause clearly I don't have enough on my plate." Hiccup told the girl. "Its getting dark. Flight time." Toothless went up and nudged Hiccup. "What's his deal?" Astrid asked us. "It's sunset. We usually do a lap around the island when it gets dark. He loves it." Hiccup told the girl. Toothless roared to us before sitting down facing the setting sun.

"Poor Toothless. No family, no night flying. What's left for him really?" Astrid asked us and we just turned out heads to her. "Ok, why don't I leave the four of you alone." Astrid then walked away with Stormfly following her. "That's probably a better option." I told her and we watched Toothless stare at the sun. "I need to fly though." Crystal told me while pacing back and forth at the blacksmith. "I know sis. But we don't have much of a choice." I told her as I passed Hiccup a hammer. Toothless was still staring at the moon seeing as it was night time now. Hiccup decided to make a shield for defense and it was going to turn out interesting. Toothless walked over and hit Hiccup in the head with his tail. "Ow! What?!" Hiccup asked the dragon. "Let's go for a flight while it's dark." Toothless told us, and Hiccup turned to me for translation. "He said to go for a flight since it's dark out." Hiccup just sighed and went back to the shield. Toothless walked over and nudged his head into Hiccup'a back. "Let's go!" Toothless told him. "Toothless, you have to relax." Hiccup then pointed to a spot in front of him and Toothless walked over there.
