In this alternate universe, a word or phrase that represents one's relationship with their soulmate appears on their wrist when they turn 21. In order to find said soulmate, the mark will begin to glow slightly whenever the person is moving in the direction towards them; this trait will last for a lifetime. After finding one's soulmate, it is up to the both of them to define how they will go about with their relationship. Most eventually develop a romantic relationship because they know that their soulmate is 'their person' but there are a handful whom keep their relationship platonic.
However, if one ends up rejecting their soulmate, it will only lead to pain and misfortunes. This also means that after formally declaring they are soulmates, a soulmate bond will be formed, concluding that if one stays away (including rejection) from their soulmate for extended amounts of time it will take a massive toll on their physical health.
