"What did I say about running away?" Sapnap spoke softly, looking down at the top of Karl's head as he walked out of the bar and through the lobby. When Karl didn't respond, Sapnap shook his head, realizing he had already fallen asleep.
Sapnap sat Karl down in the desk chair to avoid getting either bed wet from his clothes. Sapnap pulled off Karl's sweater and hoodie, replacing it with a very oversized sleep shirt that came down to Karl's mid thigh. Sapnap finished undressing him and laid him in his bed, making sure to wrap him up tightly with blankets. He prepared a couple bottles of water and tylenol on Karl's bedside table, incase he woke up hungover.
"Dummy." Sapnap smiled, looking down at Karl peacefully sleeping, the sounds of his soft snores filling the room. For the first time in a week, Sapnap got into his bed alone. He didn't want there to be any misunderstandings in the morning considering he didn't even bother trying to put pants on Karl.
Sapnap tossed and turned for nearly an hour, finding it much more difficult than he expected to fall asleep without holding Karl. Eventually, his exhaustion got the better of him, finally pushing him to sleep.
Karl woke up with a slight headache as the sun flooded in for the first time in days. His head didn't hurt as badly as he was expecting, he was mainly focused on how cold he was. Normally Sapnap's body heat would make him feel warm, sometimes even a little too warm, when he woke up. Karl rolled over, confused to see his best friend asleep in his own bed instead of Karl's.
Karl sat up, letting out a quick shiver. He felt the comforter shift across his bare legs, lifting the covers to see he was only wearing a very large shirt he didn't recognize. Karl thought back to his night at the hotel's bar, how he had sat for almost an hour in soaking wet clothes. He remembered Sapnap arriving and picking him up. Then, nothing?
Karl crawled across his bed, climbing out and into Sapnap's. He slid under the covers behind him, pressing his chest against Sapnap's back. The sheer temperature difference brought Sapnap out of sleep.
"I'm not sleeping with you when you're drunk." Sapnap mumbled into his pillow, his voice throaty.
"It's morning, I'm not drunk anymore." Karl responded softly, kissing the back of Sapnap's neck before returning his head to Sapnap's shoulder.
"Ugh, you're so cold." Sapnap grumbled, rolling to face Karl and pulling him on his chest, holding him tightly.
"I thought you were supposed to help with that?" Karl wrapped his arms around Sapnap, enjoying his body slowly warming up.
Silence fell between them, each one beginning to fall back asleep.
"Breakfast!" George said enthusiastically as he entered Karl and Sapnap's room, pulling both boys out of their near sleep.
Each boy groaned, Sapnap throwing a pillow over Karl and at George.
"Yeah, yeah. It'll be up in a few minutes." George laughed, throwing the pillow back at the sleeping boys. Just as George was walking out of the room, Dream entered.
"You guys are still in bed? Shouldn't you be on your morning old people walk by now? It's not even raining anymore!" Dream said as he started pulling off the blankets.
Sapnap shot open his eyes as he felt the blankets being removed, sitting up abruptly and grabbing them, rolling Karl off of him in the process.
"What was that for?" Karl whined, starting to sit up. Sapnap looked at Karl and then down to his legs, tilting his head to the side. Karl suddenly remembered he had no pants on and also latched on to the blankets.
Dream couldn't even get out a response as he began laughing and wheezing from watching the interaction before him.
"You should really.. settle down.. before breakfast gets here." Dream barely got out between his laughing, releasing his grasp on the comforter.
"No! That's not-" Karl started.
"I don't even wanna know man!" Dream interrupted, still laughing as he left the room.
Karl pulled the blankets over his head, mortified from the situation. He could feel the bed shake slightly as Sapnap tried to suppress his laughs, unsuccessfully.
Karl threw the blankets off as Sapnap eventually began laughing out loud, standing up and putting on the first pair of sweatpants he saw.
"Oh come on, that was pretty funny!" Sapnap tried to justify. Karl shot him a glare over his shoulder, turning his flushed face to the ground as he entered George and Dream's room. Sapnap got out of his bed and soon followed.
"No! We are not filming anymore Halloween videos! That was like a week ago and I swear I still have the smell of pumpkin guts on my hands." George scoffed at Dream who was requesting they film a video trying on different costumes.
Karl and Sapnap pulled up chairs to the cart of breakfast items that had just been delivered, listening to George and Dream bicker across the room.
"And they call us old people." Sapnap whispered to Karl, his mouth half full of toast. Karl laughed, facing Sapnap and brushing the stray crumbs out of his beard. Sapnap smiled as Karl did this, resting a hand on his thigh.
"Remember when you were that nice to me?" Dream said to George, nudging him, a smile on his face as they took their seats.
"Ah, the honeymoon phase of a new relationship." George sighed, holding his hands up to his face, sticking out his bottom lip.
"Yeah, yeah, whatever." Sapnap said with a smile, facing back towards his plate. Karl tried to keep the smile on his face as he looked down at his food.
Karl felt conflicted. Part of him was happy to know Sapnap already viewed them as in a relationship. The other part was disappointed that neither of them had officially asked. He was hoping to maybe put together another surprise together back in North Carolina before Sapnap left for Florida. It seemed silly to go to elaborate ends for something Sapnap already seemed to have decided on.
Karl was pulled from his thoughts as Sapnap placed piece of toast with jam on it on Karl's plate. Karl looked over and smiled, placing his hand atop Sapnap's that was still on his thigh.
"Nick is finally my boyfriend." Karl thought to himself, taking a bite of the toast, while watching as Sapnap joined in the banter with Dream and George.
Just as Karl was about to enter the conversation as well, his phone began ringing on the table.
