*Charlie P.O.V.*

A few more days passed and I was walking out of class and almost ran into Sarah again. "Oh. It's you again," she said. "Look Sarah. I don't think we should be enemies. There's no point," I said. "You're right. This is silly," she said. "Thank you. So we good," I asked seeing Chase waving me over. "I guess. Also what's going on with you and that little guy," she asked waving flirtatiously at Chase. "He's my boyfriend. In other words, try moving in on him and it will be the last thing you do," I said before skipping over to him. "Hey," I greeted. "Hey. Meet Marcus," Chase introduced me to a skinny kid. "Hi. I'm Charlie," I said holding out my hand. He took it and kissed the top. "Any way. Lunch," I asked pulling my hand from his grip. "Yes please," Adam said heading for the cafeteria with Marcus. "He's a cool guy," Chase said. "Sure," I said unsure about him. "Come on doll. Let's get some lunch," he said causing me to stop. "What did you call me," I asked. "Doll. If you don't like it I can come up with a different one," he said slightly panicked. "No. Doll is fine. It's just, that's what my Grandfather used to call me. He said I was the spitting image of my Grandmother when she was younger," I said. "So doll is fine," he asked. "Doll is beautiful," I said with a laugh wrapping an arm around his back.

We sat down to eat and the boys were discussing starting a band. "Who's going to be the singer," I asked. "Well we figured we didn't need one," Marcus said. "Every band needs a singer. How else are you going to hold the attention of the audience," I said. "Can either of you sing? I know I can't," Marcus said. "Well we can't but we do know someone who can," Chase said. "Who," Marcus asked. "Oh! Oh! How about Charlie," Adam said. "Me," I said trying not to choke on my food. "Yes you. You showed up Sarah and them back at the dance," Adam said. "Adam I'm not that good," I said with a sigh. "You're kidding right," Chase said. "You, sir, don't have room to talk. Your opinion will be biased," I said. "Oh you're just being modest. Charlie is a great singer," Adam said. "Let's hear a little something then," Marcus said.

"No. I'm not one for showing off," I said. "Okay. Next order of business, practice space," Marcus said. "Oh oh! How about the lab," Adam said. I kicked him and he covered it. "Labrador retriever Park," he corrected. "Yeah the park is a great idea, other than all the dog crap," I said. "How about our place? Our house is pretty big," Chase said. "Sounds good. See you guys after school," Marcus said before leaving. "I don't know about him," I said. "He seems like a nice guy," Chase said. "Marcus is cool," Adam said. "I can see that, but my gut is telling me to stay away from him," I said crossing my arms. "Give him a chance, for me," Chase begged. "I am giving him a chance, because I really hope my gut is wrong," I said before leaving.

I went about my day and after school I went over to the Davenport house with the boys. "How was school," Tasha asked. "It was school," I said unamused. "I hear the boys made a new friend," Tasha said. "Yeah. Marcus," I said. "Really you too,"she asked. I looked at her funny in response. "Leo doesn't like him very much either," she explained. "I just have a bad feeling about him. And when has my gut ever been wrong," I said looking at her.

"We're home," Adam called walking in. "And that's my que to leave," I said going up to one of the spare rooms to do my homework. I put in my headphones and listened to my music.  I finished my homework and began exploring the house still listening to my music. I sang along as I walked around and reached the kitchen and grabbed a snack from the fridge.

As I belted out the high note I squeezed my eyes shut turning around. When I opened them I saw the boys with their jaws wide open. "Sorry. Didn't mean to interrupt your practice session," I said taking out an earbud. "You are really good," Marcus said. "You're just being nice because Chase and Adam are your friends," I said looking down at my hands. "No I really mean it. You are amazing. How does a voice like that come out of your tiny body," he asked. I just shrugged my shoulders. "Told ya she was good," Chase said.

"Do you want to join the band," Marcus asked stepping towards me. I looked behind him to see Chase nodding. "Sure. Why not," I said. "Great. Come on over and join us," Marcus said taking my hand. He continued to hold my hand and I looked over to see Chase staring him down. I yanked my hand from his and went over to Chase. "Chase you still with us," I asked calmly. "Yeah, let's go get a mic for you," he said firmly taking my hand. He led me in the direction of Mr. Davenport's game room and we began to look for a mic. "Chase I know you were jealous," I said causing him to turn. "Why wouldn't I be. Look at you, you are way out of my league," he said. "And I chose you," I said walking over to him. "You don't have to worry about me leaving you. I choose you Chase," I said hugging him. It took him a moment, but he quickly hugged me back pulling me closer to him. "Charlie I," he began. "Have you found that mic yet," Marcus called from down the hall. "Yeah," Chase yelled back picking up the mic.
