"Nicola...What's wrong?" Jamie looks at me, his eyes a deep hue of brown. They were hazy, his brows were ruffled.

"I don't know what you're talking about" I mumble as I lean on the rail, swirling the wine in my glass.

We were in his apartment and had just finished dinner. It felt nice to be back in Dallas with a day off. The weather was warm so Jamie and I found ourself on the rooftop with a bottle of wine. An amazing sky of stars lit up above us, the moon illuminating the night.

"Nicola you may be distant but that doesn't change me knowing you" he mutters under his breath. "What's bugging you?"

"Tyler" I shake my head

"Did he do something?" His eyes brows lift and eyes widen.

"Jamie I really like him" I sigh "And-"

"And you have to much pride to go back on your word of how much him and the Bruins were a peace of shit?"

"Yea something like that"

"Nicola... maybe this once swallow your pride" He chuckles. He sets the glass of wine down than wraps his arms around me. My head resting in the crook of his neck.

"I'm scared" I admit

"Nicola I wouldn't be telling you to swallow your pride if I didn't think this was right"

"I just I don't know... You know how I am with my morals"

"You never change them, I know I know. But Nicola I haven't seen you truly happen since your brother passed, but when I saw you the morning after your date with him.." He shook his head, his eyes glassy with tears brimming in his eyes. "You looked so genuinely happy. Nicola I want that for you everyday" He smiles, a tear trickled down his cheek.

I wiped it with my thumb and kissed his cheek. "Jamie how did I ever get so lucky? I have the most amazing friend in the world" I squeezed him. He lets go and holding me at an arms length, a test trickles down his cheek. I than feel one run down mine and at the same time we smile. A little laugh escapes our lips.

"God Jamie" I shake my head "Why do I always have to be so stubborn?" I joke

"You take after your brother, you take after your brother" He whispered as he pulled me back into his chest. His muscular tattooed arms devouring me.

"Jamie" I whisper as we stand there on the rooftop lost in each other's arms.

"Yea?"

"You know Canada is gonna select you tomorrow right?" I whisper while looking up at him, my chin digging into his chest.

"I'd like to think that" he sighs

"I'm sure of it, the grape vine told me" I laugh

"I hope your right" He said

The next day we were all at the American Airline center. The whole team gathered on the couch, phones clutched tightly in their hands.

Jamie had no facial expression, no emotion shown through him. I had seen this before, it was how Jamie was for a few months after my brothers death.

Emotionless

I knew Jamie so well, I knew how he hated to get his hopes up. He absolutely hated it. To get your hopes and than to be let down was the absolute worst thing for Jamie. That's why he doesn't talk about playoffs much because he doesn't want the disappointment.

Finally, the roster was dropped. The guys scanned quickly. Tyler stood on the other side of the room. He wore a tight under armer shirt that left his arms bare.

His tattoos.

God his tattoos

"Jamie" Jordie whispers, breaking the silence of the room. "You made it man" he tears up. Jamie's face turned to shock as he looked back down on his phone and scrolled. Than his face lit up. The goofy smiled appeared. He saw his name.

"I made it! I made it!" He chanted as he jumped in excitement. Within seconds he was embracing hugs from all his teammates. I found myself pushing through the large men and wrapping myself to Jamie's side.

"I knew you would make it!" I smile at him

"We're going to Russia!" He blurted.

Us ? Russia? Across the world?
