Late into the night, Natasha stayed with her until she finally fell asleep in her arms. She would not have left earlier if she had not known that she had fallen asleep peacefully. When she came out of her room and quietly closed the door, Steve was already waiting for her, as he often did. She had already noticed that she was not the only one who was very worried about the little one. Of course Tony did too, but he didn't realize how badly she was doing unlike Steve. "How is she?" he asked immediately, confirming Nat's theory that he had waited for her. Not that he didn't care about her well being too but at the moment Abigail was probably at the top of everyone's list. "She's fine," she sighed, sitting down on a chair while resting her legs on the table. "I finally got her to try to sleep. I'm just worried about her." Steve did sat down in a chair across from her as well, prompting Nat to put her feet down, knowing the Cap greatly disliked such manners. "She knows exactly how to stress you out," he joked lightly meanwhile, now taking over Nat's actual part. "And I'd be worried if you weren't."

Nodding in agreement, Natasha gave him a small knowing smile before hers darkened again, though. "She was afraid to tell me.... She thought I'd be mad at her." Her change in mood was immediately followed by Steve as he realized how serious she was. "How do you know?" Natasha shook her head to once again suppress rising tears. At that moment Steve realized that this question was unnecessary, after all she had been trained to do this and pressing her for an answer was very insensitive of him. Before he could withdraw his question, however, Nat began to answer him, and to his relief, she didn't seem the least bit angry. All he saw in her otherwise unreadable eyes was worry, sadness and concern. "I just know..." Suddenly, the door opened behind them and a sleepy Abigail stepped out. "Nat?" she breathed to suppress the fear in her voice but it was no work of art to see her tears. "Are you all right?" asked Natasha anxiously, rising from her seat. "Yeah, I just... I can't sleep," she admitted, and Nat knew for a fact that nightmares were the reason. Because often enough, her nightmares, about her past kept her up late at night into the early morning, too. "Oh, that's all right... are you hungry?" Abigail nodded and sat down on a couch in close proximity to Steve and Natasha. "This calls for my famous peanut butter sandwiches." With that, she scurried into the kitchen and returned only a short time later with three plates full of sandwiches and handed them out to Abigail and Steve. Almost like a little family, the three of them sat on the couch late into the night, eating their sandwiches and laughing together. For that moment, everything was perfect, if only it could be that way forever.
