THIRTEEN

chapter thirteen;
the one where they stayed up

LIKE EVERY OTHER DAY, Aven couldn't fall asleep. Her mind was everywhere. She would even describe her brain as an apocalyptic brain. There was so much going on inside her brain that she just couldn't close her eyes, even if it was only for 5 seconds.

She has been worrying about her father, that's for sure. She kept wondering how he was. How her family were doing. It has been at least two months since she set eyes on the letter from her mother.

Ever since then, she just simple couldn't sleep. Aven sat up in the dark to see all her dorm mates still fast asleep. Knowing that she won't be sleeping anytime soon? Aven went downstairs.

She then settled down on the couch, looking at the big window.

"V?"

"Merlin, Siri" The voice startled her

"Sorry love" Sirius chuckled sitting next to Aven

"Why are you up?" Asked Aven

"I could ask you the same question, but if you're curious, i just simply had a feeling that you were here" Sirius replied

"Are you some kind of feelers or something?"

"Feelers? The fuck does that mean?" Sirius questioned, confusion written all over his face

"I don't know but it sounds like a nickname for a pervert" Aven snickered

"True that" Sirius laughed

"Anyways, why are you awake Star?"

"Can't sleep" Aven answered casually

Sirius nodded and they both sat in silence enjoying each other's company. Sirius knew that something was on her mind, and as much as he wanted to know what has been bothering her, he knew that she will eventually tell him.

"You okay?" Aven asked Sirius

"I'm always okay"

"Besides i think i should be the one asking that question" Sirius replied

"I'm okay Padfoot"

"Bullshit" Sirius sighed

"But i respect your privacy, so i'm not gonna ask you any further, but just know that i'm always here if you wanna talk" Sirius smiled ruffling Aven's hair

Aven gave him an appreciative smile. They talked and laughed for at least an hour straight. Then somehow, for the first time in two months, Aven's eyes grew tired.

"Sleepy much?" Sirius chuckled at the yawning Aven

"Sure" Aven mumbled tiredly

"Go to bed V" Sirius demanded and Aven only hummed

"Come on you big baby go to bed" Sirius brushed Aven's hair out of her face

"Fine" Aven gave in before standing up

Aven walked to the stairs to go upstairs but Sirius stopped her.

"No goodnight for me? I am deeply offended" Sirius gasped

"Merlin you're such a baby" Aven laughed

"Well go on" Sirius waited

"Goodnight, princess" Aven said with a smile

"Goodnight too, my queen" Sirius bowed down

The both of them could only laugh at each other, yet again.

"Goodnight Padfoot" Aven smiled

"Goodnight Star" Sirius smiled back at her

"Why are you guys talking about Alabama?" Sofia asked as she sat next to Aven

"Oh God" Alice closed her eyes, knowing what they were talking about

"Please stop" Lily groaned

"Why do i feel like it's something gross or weird"

"Because it is gross and weird Dory" Remus told her

"I told you not to call me Dory" Dorcas retorted

"Dory sounds like a fish" Peter pointed out

"Exactly!" Dorcas agreed

"But that won't stop us from calling you Dory" Marlene teased

"Anyways moving on, what's wrong with Alabama?" Dorcas continued

Aven explained what sometimes happens in Alabama to them and lets just say that Dorcas and Sofia were not ecstatic with it, but they laughed anyways.

"So wait you're telling me this whole Alabama thing is actually real?" Sofia questioned

"Yes, it it" Sirius nodded

"Huh that's uhm okay i guess" Dorcas said trying not to laugh

"It's their choice right?" Lily raised her eyebrow with a chuckle

"Yeah Lils, it is their choice" James replied sending heart eyes at her

"Okay, let's talk about something else please" Marlene pleaded

"The quidditch match is coming up soon" Aven changed the topic

"Oh yeah fuck" James ruffled his hair

"We'll win Prongs" Sirius patted James's back

"Yeah we will" Aven cheered

"We'll only win because of Ave" Sirius sent a wink towards her

"Did the Sirius Black just admitted that i'm better than him" Aven gasped

"You know that's the truth darling" Sirius said with a smug on his face

You'd think that they were together if you weren't in their group. Everyone else thought the two were a couple for a year straight. But them flirting has always been their thing. Just them casually flirting without meaning anything. Or atleast that's what they always thought.

Their friends could only roll their eyes every single time they flirted, because they knew that the two friends were too oblivious with their feelings. But how they wished the two of them were together.
