The rest of them watched leisurely as the ruin guard chased the thief around, not a single one of them moving to help him.

"You! Knight!" Izzard's panicked voice echoed throughout the room, eyes wide as they glanced at them. "You're not gonna watch me die, are ya?"

Kaeya hummed, blue eyes glinting as he calmly spoke. "Hmm, what an interesting suggestion."

The sight of the group of knights and the three unusual travelers just standing there watching him suffer was more than enough to make Izzard relent and give up.

"Fine! I'll confess and go quietly!" he cried out, just barely dodging a mechanical arm that reached out to slam him to the ground. "Please, just help me!"

There was silence as Kaeya appeared to be truly considering not helping the thief. Aether was also silent beside him, not at all encouraging the Captain to go save the man.

After another shriek echoed through the room, Kaeya sighed and clicked his tongue.

"Alright then," he said, sounding displeased as he summoned his sword. "Guess I will have to do some overtime work after all."

Y/n and Aether both summoned their own weapons as well, intending to help as much as they can to get it over with. They have philanemo mushrooms to roast when they get back into the city.

One of the knights Kaeya had brought with him yanked the treasure hoarder away by the collar from the ruin guard's sights and placed him at the furthest corner of the room, and Izzard wrenched himself away from the knight's grip with a huff.

Y/n observed as the ruin guard turn its attention towards Aether, its piercing yellow eye flashing. It was making incoherent robotic sounds while preparing to jump and slam down on him, the blond traveler quick on his feet and quickly darting away from being crushed.

Every Genshin player knows that the glowing eye and the socket at the back were a ruin guard's weakness, and she found out through a painful, painful experience.

Most Genshin players will encounter their first ruin guard at Kaeya's story quest, and it was no different with Y/n. When she played the quest and entered the domain, she had absolutely no idea of the absolute pain-in-the-ass enemy that she had to fight. The slimes and hilichurls they encountered were a trick and she was so, so naive.

There was an unspeakable horror inside.

For an absolute beginner like her, fighting the ruin guard was a challenge and a fucking nightmare. She was still struggling with using the bow, still struggling with maneuvering her character, and her characters were under-leveled. The number of times she was cornered and absolutely demolished by the damn thing was painful and too much to count. She was not sure how many times she had watched her character stuck and bombed via aimed missiles or smacked with spinning metallic limbs. The annoyance bubbling under her skin was so vicious that her brothers had to take over for her before she sets her laptop on fire in her frustration.

She avoided ruin guards for a really long time after that. Screw them.

Now, Y/n assumed that it would be easier to defeat than it was in the game. The absence of the HP bar may mean that a single destructive blow at its eye or socket will be enough to immobilize and take the ruin guard down. Wearing down its HP was no longer necessary. The difficult part was actually hitting the ruin guard without getting hit themselves.

Y/n was confident that they will be fine. Avoiding the aimed missiles, claps, stomps, and jumps should be relatively easy since the ruin guards were rather slow. Yes, they will be fine. As long as the damn thing doesn't start spinning like a fucking cursed beyblade. The attack range of the spin was so wide and Y/n knows that broken bones will be inevitable if they get hit. The Teyvat Fried Egg or Sweet Madame won't save them now.
