Y/n smiled at the confused blond woman and casually waved.
"Hi, Jean. Yes, it's me."
Jean tilted her head in confusion as she watched the [hair color] haired woman sip her third glass of grape juice. Diluc had decided to let her order as much as she wanted free of charge today because he felt just one glass wasn't enough of an apology.
"Is it just you?" Jean asked her.
"Aether and Paimon should be here any moment now," Y/n said and nodded toward the tavern doors.
And as if on cue, the doors opened and the two she spoke of stepped inside. He paused when he saw many eyes were on him, and blinked when he saw the blond woman there too.
"Um... Why is the Acting Grand Master here?" Aether asked, slightly taken aback at the crowd that had assembled inside the tavern.
"There he is," Y/n said and waved at him with a smile. "Hi, Aether and Paimon."
Aether's look of uncertainty dissolved the moment his golden eyes landed on her, and he waved back with an easy smile.
"Hello, Y/n. What are you drinking?" he asked as he stepped further inside the tavern to sit beside her.
"Y/n! How dare you drink something without Paimon?!" the fairy cried out as she also zipped inside to peer into her glass.
"It's grape juice sponsored by Master Diluc over there," she said, throwing the crimson-haired man a grin. She then turned back to the blond. "It tastes good. You should try some, Aether.
"That is correct," Diluc answered with an affirmative nod. "Our grapes are locally grown at the winery."
Jean watched the interaction, more than a little perplexed that the crimson-haired man looked at ease as he interacted with the [hair color] haired woman. While it appeared that he still didn't trust Y/n that much yet, Jean saw that he held a certain level of respect for her. It appears to the the start of a friendship. It was very unlike him, but Jean felt relieved that he now had someone he could talk to, even if just a bit.
"Juice aside, can we get back to the topic at hand?" Paimon asked with a hand on her hip. "Can anyone tell Paimon why the Acting Grandmaster is here?"
"Well, first of all, I contacted more than one person," Diluc said, crossing his arms as his expression turned serious. "Secondly, she came here as "Jean" herself, not as the Acting Grand Master. A Jean you would never see, even as Honorary Knights."
Or in other words, a Jean that was involved in illegal doings. Y/n supposes nobody but a select few would be able to see the normally righteous woman suddenly involved in an out-of-the-books mission. It made her character more interesting.
"What a surprise," Jean said as she observed Y/n and Aether. "I heard about the Holy Lyre, but I never suspected it was you two..."
She fell silent as she seemed to think about something. A moment later, she turned towards the bard who had appeared out of nowhere and was now perched on the seat beside Y/n.
"The sound of the Holy Lyre can purify Stormterror and return it to normal... Is that true?" the blond woman asked the bard, and Venti nodded enthusiastically.
"That's right! Y/n and Aether are putting themselves on the front line to try and resolve this Stormterror issue," Venti said and crossed his arms, looking proud. "Now that's the hotshots of the Knights of Favonius I'm talking about."
"Feels like we're breaking the law though..." Paimon mumbled, starting to sound nervous.
"We are breaking the law," Y/n flatly said as she shot the fairy an unimpressed look.
