FLASHBACK

The little girl was engulfed by darkness. She banged on the door, demanding to be freed but nothing happened. The man had locked her inside a small room. She was scared. She wanted to get out. She screamed and screamed.

"Stop screaming you brat. This is what you get for running around the house" she heard him faintly.

She still screamed, hoping that the fuming man would have a change of heart. No one knew for how long she was crying and begging to be freed.

The door opened and the man angrily made his way towards her.

'SLAP'

"STOP SCREAMING"

'SLAP'

"IT WOULD HAVE BEEN BETTER IF YOU DIED WITH YOUR PARENTS YOU FILTHY BRAT" The drunk man slurred, clearly spewing nonsense since he was out of his mind.

"Y/N"

"Y/N"

FLASHBACK ENDS

"Y/N" The boy shook her shoulders. He was worried seeing her in this state.

Jay's POV:

I was staring out the window when I heard her loud breathing. I turned around to see her sitting but something was wrong.

I couldn't help but get scared at what was happening. Was she okay? Is she hurt?
Many questions clouded my mind as I quickly walked over to her.

I saw tears running down her cheeks, unsteady breathing and her figure shaking furiously.

"Y/N" I yelled but she didn't hear me. She kept on trying to breathe.

"Y/N"

"Y/N" I yelled again while shaking her with all my might.

Author's POV:

"Y/N"

"Please don't hurt me." She flinched as she brought her arms over her figure, trying to defend herself.

"It's me Jay" He said while he forced her to look up. Snapping out of the trance and realizing that it was Jay Infront of her, she suddenly hugged him.

"I'm scared" she cried. The boy hugged the broken girl back. He picked her up and sat under the window.

"M-my uncle. He'll come here. Save me" She choked on her own tears. She couldn't help but reply the flashbacks on the canvas of her mind, not being able to let go of the painful memory

She clutched onto his shirt tightly, afraid that he'll slip away from her any moment.

"Nobody is here. It's me. You're safe. I'll protect you" He said as he patted her head.

"Don't worry. I'm here. I'm here for you" The blonde whispered sweet words, trying his best to comfort the broken figure. He gently grabbed her face with one of his hand while the other rested on her waist making her look up.

"You're safe with me. I'll protect you" He said. She saw his face illuminated by the moonlight. Through her blurry vision she looked how his stare contained comfort and love.

She hugged him tighter. At this moment all she needed was comfort. He gently caressed her cold body.

The sobs were replaced with tiny snores. He gently looked down to see her sleeping while embracing him. He couldn't help but crack a smile. His heart beated erratically. He didn't wanted this moment to end. He wanted to hold her and protect her. He wanted her to find her peace in him.

Niki'S POV:

Since we had done our jobs, it was time to head back. I noticed two people missing from our groups.

"Hyung where is Y/N Noona and Jay hyung?" I questioned. Come to think of it, it has been a while since we saw them.

"Maybe they left" Sunoo hyung said but something felt weird. Heeseung hyung shook his head as he pointed in the direction of Jay hyung's bag along with her bag.

"Where are they?" Jungwon said, colliding his eyebrows. It was weird since it had been more than an hour since we saw them.

"Let's check. We'll meet up here again" Sunghoon said before running off to the opposite direction.

I checked the rooftop, Janitor's closet and a few classes. They were nowhere to be seen. We met up at the required spot.

"Tough luck?" Jake hyung asked while panting.

"Tough luck" Heeseung hyung replied.

"We still have a few classes left. Let's check them together" Sunoo said while still trying to steady his breath.

We ran upstairs making our way towards the classes. We all decided to check the remaining classes.

"Guys here" Jungwon yelled. He tried to open it but it was locked.
