The car moved over the highway with lights on full beam, inky clouds huddled in the sky as rain spewed from them. I turned my attention to the droplets falling, the yellow streetlights dancing off the water particles. Anything to take my thoughts off the fight at Griddy's or my contaminated mind. I wanted my brain to roam free, as Vanya's apartment grew nearer by the minute.

The tires screeched on the damp road as the car turned; parking on the roadside.

"You ready?" Five pondered, turning his head to look in my direction.

"How are we even supposed to get in? This place is going to be locked you know" I scoffed, slamming the car door as I stepped out.

My pace was amble as I walked in front of the car, the lights shooting through me, causing me to squint.

Five's smirk grew wider as he turned off the ignition. I crossed my arms, eyes widening as the car lights disappeared. In a flash he was next to me.

"You know we can spacial jump...Right? Who needs a key?"

He lightly touched my head, smiling mischievously as he blinked away onto the scaffolding outside Vanya's window. Seconds later I was next to him. We opened the window and climbed through into the dark apartment.

"What idiot leaves their window unlocked?" Exhaled Five, rolling his eyes as he shut the window after me.

My eyes scanned the apartment, grinning as I looked at the décor of their apartment.

"Looks like no ones home yet" I whispered.

"Not for long, I can hear them outside" He muttered, alerted by the distant footsteps.

Five sat on one on Vanya's armchairs, while I sat on the couch. We watched Vanya enter her apartment. She places her violin on the small table beside the door, followed by hanging up her coat. I saw Five reach for the lamp above him, flicking it on in one quick motion.

"Jesus guys!" Vanya shrieked, their hand holding their chest.

"You know, you should really lock your windows", Five pointed out.

"I live on the second floor"

"Rapists can climb you know, it doesn't take Einstein to figure that one out" I added.

"You two are so weird"

I smile at Vanya as they sit on the couch next to me. But their smile quickly fades as they look at my clothes.

"O-oh my goodness! Is t-that blood?, Vanya stuttered.

"It's nothing" Five replied.

Vanya stays quiet for a short beat, trying to process what's happening. "Why are you both here in my apartment?" They question.

"Well...We've decided you're the only one we can trust" I stated.

"Why me?"

"Because you're- "

"Ordinary" Five interrupts, his face expressionless. My head snaps in his direction: sending him a glare, my eyebrows creased.

Vanya leans back onto the couch, crossing their arms. A look of deep deject in their eyes.

"Because you'll listen to our crazy stories and theories" I grinned, taking their hand in mine as I looked Into their eyes.

"Let's get something to clean you both up"

Curiosity rose between us, watching as Vanya gingerly walked away and disappeared into the next room, swallowed by the darkness. A light switched on and we heard cupboards opening, along with rustling.

After a short while they return, medical and first aid supplies clutched in their hands. She handed some of the supplies to Five. He rolled up his sleeve, his face slightly scrunching up from the pain as he unravels the bandage I put on his arm in the car. I flinch at his actions, the wound on my arm began to throb.

Vanya begins to tend to my wound, finishing by wrapping my arm in a clean bandage. Five leans over, placing his hand on my thigh.

"You alright"

"Mhm" I murmured, something didn't feel right. My head was fuzzy and my vision blurred.

We turn our heads back to Vanya.

"When we jumped forward, into the future, do you know what we found?", I questioned Vanya.

"No?"

"Nothing..... Absolutely nothing!", Five agonized.

Suddenly my mind was back in the apocalypse, there was no escape until this was over.

Me and Five were sat on the long desolate road, our backs leaning against the red pull cart. The both of us were covered head to toe in ash and soot, coating our skin, pigmenting it. My mind was clouded over with thoughts I longed to forget, I'd tried alcohol, but even that didn't seem to flush them out.

We started walking down the long, bleak road. We scanned for any signs of life, but lifeless limbs and bodies were everywhere. They're scattered on the sidewalk, slumped behind the wheel of their cars, collapsed in their chairs.

"As far as we could tell, we were the last people left alive", Five states. But his voice was just vibrations in the air, bouncing off the walls and into my ears: just noise. "We never figured out what killed the human race, but we did find something else"

"The date it happens..." I shuddered, feeling my mind come back. I was left shaking, my legs jigging. Five blinked next to me, pulling me into his embrace. Arms wrapping tight around me.

"Where you back there again?" He whispered, remorse filling his eyes. His voice was soft, bringing me to ease.

"Mhm" I whined. "But...according to our knowledge the world ends in eight days"

"We have no idea how to stop it" Five blurted.

I could feel the haunted expressions on our faces, hopelessness in our eyes.

"I'll put on a pot of coffee" Vanya acknowledges, their hand on mine. I couldn't help but smile at their understanding.
