Part 13
***
The conversation that you and Clint had in the training rooms had been about four days ago now. The time machine still wasn't working yet, and everyone was beginning to feel a little tense cause of it. The team put off making up plans for now and everyone was really just trying to figure out how to make the machine work. If they weren't trying to get it running, then they were staying out of the way.

Things between you and Clint hadn't seemed to change much after your conversation. If anything, it was a little more awkward now, but there wasn't as much tension. If that even made any sense. Probably a better way to put it would be: it's complicated.

Your interactions included saying good morning to him and sitting together for breakfast, getting awkward little smiles from him whenever he saw you, and having small talk whenever you were alone together. There wasn't any romantic touching, sweet words, or deep conversations. You were working up to it though, taking small steps. Despite things getting awkward on occasion, you and Clint at least seemed to be on the same page.

This morning you'd gotten up really early. Last night was just one of those nights where it was hard to sleep. Mostly it was due to the stress from the time machine. The whole thing was getting frustrating and you were tired of just sitting around and waiting for something to happen. You'd woken up around 4:00 am and just decided you weren't going back to sleep. Instead, you were in the kitchen, getting some coffee started and getting supplies out to make muffins. Maybe that would help to lower tensions around the compound.

As the coffee brewed, you got the oven set to the proper temperature and started combining the ingredients to make muffins. You decided on three different kinds to hopefully cover everyone in the tower. Tony liked fruity muffins, so you were doing blueberry, Steve and Natasha were banana muffin kinds of people, and everyone else either liked those two or chocolate. Sure it was a lot work, but you had a few hours to kill anyway.

You'd just finished the batter mixture for the blueberry muffins when the coffee pot beeped. So you took a small break to make up a cup for yourself. You added a good amount of caramel creamer to the cup, not liking the taste of bitter coffee. It was something Clint always used to complain to you about.

"You are ruining a perfectly good cup of coffee." A voice came from behind you. You jumped a little bit, and turned, knowing it'd be Clint. You spotted him leaning against a wall, arms crossed over his chest. He got the smallest grin on his face when your eyes met, and you returned his smile. You also rolled your eyes at his teasing.

"Good morning to you too. What are you doing up so early?" You ask, ignoring his earlier statement and capping the creamer before setting it back in the fridge. Clint wasn't going to want it anyway, he'd drink his black.

"Just couldn't get to sleep. Then I smelled the coffee and decided to see who was up." He explains, moving from his spot on the wall to get himself a cup of coffee. While he prepped his cup, he looked over at the bowls you had laid out. "I'm guessing you aren't up this early just cause you wanted to make pancakes."

"Muffins." You correct him, taking a sip of your own drink. It tasted just the right amount of sweet. "But yeah. I couldn't sleep either last night. Or this morning for that matter. So I figured I'd use the extra time for baking. Things have been so tense lately between everyone, I thought some muffins for breakfast might bring down the tension."

Clint leaned up against the counter, blowing on his coffee to try and get it to cool down faster. He nodded as he listened to you and took a short sip of his coffee. "What kind are you making?" He asks, looking at the batter again.

"Blueberry, banana and chocolate chip." You list off. "They aren't going to be ready for a while yet. Unless you want blueberry. Then they'll be done about 40 or 50 minutes." You still hadn't gotten them into the pan and they'd need 20 minutes to bake and at least 10 minutes to cool down. He grumbles at this news though.
