I'm so tired of pretending
Marinette had finally had enough she was so tired of being let down by those around her, tired of those she trusted, turning on her. First her friends, Chat Noir, her parents now she had no one and Hawkmoth and Mayura were finally defeated along with chat noir who had joined him when he turned on her.
Where's my happy ending?
Where was her happy ending? Marinette thought walking into class one more day and she would finally move to Gotham finally get her happy ending with Damian and his family.
I followed all the rules
She had followed all the rules, did what she was told but when she told the truth she was punished, hurt and left on the street by her own parents her only friend was taken from her and sent to New York, Chloe had no choice in the decision.
I drew inside the lines
She never did anything she wasn't supposed to, she stopped akumas, helped her parents in the bakery, made clothes for her friends all for free, babysit their younger siblings just to have them throw her away when someone new came along.
I never asked for anything that wasn't mine
Not once did she ask for anything in return, but the one time she asked them all they do is ignore her and hurt her for it. All she asked was that they listen to the truth but they rather live in a fantasy, than so be it Marinette thought it would only hurt them in the end.
I waited patiently for my time
She waited for her turn, her turn to finally tell Adrien her feelings to tell him she loved him, but it was all in vain.
But when it finally came
He asked her how to ask someone else out and then asked her to be the third wheel because he was too scared to go alone and she did just to make him happy so she might have a chance to be more than just friends.
He called her name
Adrien ended up choosing Lila over her and said to take the high road, that was the moment he would do nothing to stop the liar and would just let them be lied to and let them get hurt in the end.
And now I feel this overwhelming pain
She was heartbroken to find out that he wouldn't stand up for her when all her friends and her best friend turned to her saying she was a bully. That was the moment Marinette knew Adrien was a spineless coward who would never help her.
