"Oh, Helga!" exclaimed Susan, "Juno! That dress is— WOW! Where'd you get it?!"

Juno held the long dress up to her frame and spun around for her friends to see, "My Aunt Queenie sent it for me, she makes dresses and robes for all the kids in our family. Mum told me she was ecstatic when she heard Rolf, Anthony and I were going to a ball—wanted to make ours for us."

Hannah sighed, "I wish I had an aunt like that."

Folding the dress back up carefully and placing it back in the box, Juno smiled, "She's actually my grandma's sister, so technically, she's my grandaunt."

"Still!" both girls rolled their eyes in sync.

Juno plopped herself down on Susan's bed where Hannah was lying down dramatically and Susan was leaning against the bed post.

"Anyway, it's been eight days since the ball was announced, and only Susan's been asked—albeit by Wayne—Hannah the ball's in a week!"

Hannah exhaled dramatically and sat up, "I want someone to ask me, not the other way around."

Juno rolled her eyes, "Be a woman! March up to him and tell him he's going with you, be confident!"

"Easy for you to say!"

"Yeah, you're not even going with anyone!" chimed Susan.

"I'm not going with anyone because I don't want to have to feel validated just because I brought a guy to a stupid dance!" Juno groaned. "If I'm going to be validated, it'll be because I have done it, not because a man 'helped' me!"

It was quiet for a moment, then Hannah spoke, "How many guys have asked you to the ball, anyway?"

Juno screwed up her face as she thought, then it smoothed back out when she answered, "Twelve guys and a girl."

"I heard that Cedric was going to ask you out but Rolf forbid him too," said Hannah.

Susan groaned, "I wanted Rolf to ask me but he chose Luna Lovegood."

"Okay, first —" Juno held up one finger "— that sounds like Rolf, though, I'm not sure Cedric would've asked me anyway. Second, please don't fawn over my brother in front of me, it's gross. And third, I was so sure he and Cedric were gonna end up together."

The dormitory burst into a fit of giggles.
