I stared out the window, my chin resting on the palm of my hand. Cars quickly barreled down the road. Sirens went off, so did horns. People sped down the sidewalk in front of the CVS I was currently in front of now.

Chiara said she had to get something real quick and I decided to stay in the car and wait for her.

The sun was high above us now and was so bright I could barely see out the window. Gosh darn it, if I knew I would still be out here this time of morning I would have brought my sunglasses.

Of course, if Enzo hadn't left me I would be in my bed safely tucked in with Mr. Pebbles pulled tightly to my chest. But we don't talk about that.

I jumped when the sound of someone knocking on the window filled my ears.

I turned my head to see Chiara pointing down, motioning for me to unlock the door.

Probably because her hands were full with a bag and of course her phone which she never wanted out of her sight.

I pressed the button to unlock the door and she opened it and slipped inside almost immediately dumping the bag in my lap.

She buckled up her seat belt and turned her body so she was facing me.

Their were heavy bags under her eyes and she looked sleepy but her voice still took on the calm and collected sound as she said "I don't know where you've been. I don't want to know..." she shook her head "Okay I do want to know. But you don't have to tell me if you don't want to," she pointed to the bag plopped down on my lap and motioned for me to see what's inside.

I looked down and my eye caught on something colorful. I smiled, looking up at Chiara to see her grinning from ear to ear. I took the Sour Patch Kids out of the bag along with Dumb Dunb Suckers, Cheetos, And an Arizona Green Tea.

"I love you so much," I say, ripping open the bag of Sour Patch kids and stuffing my mouth full of them.

She smiled and took the candy I held out to her, popping it into her mouth. "I know,"

She started the car and cranked up the heat so we could get warm. She always waited a few minutes before driving so the heat could circulate which I used to hate when she did but got used to it.

"He left me there," I finally said, kicking off my shoes and slouching in my seat, unwrapping a sucker and sticking it in my mouth. If Elyse were here she'd make a dirty joke about a boys unmentionables.

"Enzo?"

I nodded.

She kissed her teeth and shook her head. "What a jerk! Leaving you there by yourself all alone in the freezing cold," she tightened her hands around the wheel. "I knew he wasn't shit when he didn't have a coffee preference,"
