Gwen Stacy has already traveled across multiverse. She met other spider people like Peter B, Miles, Peni, Peter Porker, and Spider-Noir. It's safe to say that she's has experience when it comes to multiverse travel. Granted that no one else really has much multiverse travel experience, she has the most.
Now, when the spider gang defeated Kingpin and Doc Ock, Miles manned the controls on putting in which universe to send each person back to. He got them right, all except for Gwen's.
So, instead of going back to her New York, she was brought under a bridge in Germany where she was fifteen again then was involved in a civil war. During that fight, she met that universe's Spider-Man, a fifteen year-old kid named Peter Parker from Queens, New York.
Where Peter is the adorable idiot, and Gwen is the one who always saves him.
