Chapter 14

Callies POV

"Alright bug, I hear you" I sigh and get out of bed,

Paisley was clearly awake and yelling through the monitors to let us know it.

Today is also Arizona's first day back at work since everything happened

"I'll start on breakfast" Arizona tells me, waking herself up and I nod and walk down the hall to Paisleys room

"Mommy!" She squeals and I smile,

"You need to start sleeping later" I chuckle and lift her out of her crib and pick out an outfit for today

"Where momma?" She questions

"Making breakfast" I say and get her changed into clothes for today and put her down on the floor in her room

"Mommas going to take that" I say and she moves her hand behind her back quick

"Shhh" she says seriously

"Paisley.." I warn and she just walks past me, out of her room

I'll just let Arizona deal with that then

Once we got to the kitchen Paisley still had her hand behind her back and I lifted her into her high chair and Arizona was making breakfast so paisley slipped her nini into her mouth while Arizona was distracted

Shaking my head I walked into the kitchen to fill paisleys cup up with juice and handed it to her

Once Arizona finished breakfast she cut up a pancake and placed it in front of Paisley

"Hey. Give me that" Arizona says and takes the pacifier from paisley and she frowns

"You mean" she fights and Arizona laughs

"I know it" she replies and sits next to me

"You sure you're ready for work?" I ask and push her hair behind her ear

"I'm sure, and I will see you at lunch yes?" She ask and I nod

"I only have two surgeries before lunch then I will meet you in your office" I say and she nods and gives me a kiss

After we all finished breakfast we loaded up in the car and drove to work

"I'll take her, you go get settled" I say once getting into the hospital

"Okay. I love you be good" she says and kisses paisleys cheek before handing her to me

"I love you too and be good" she chuckles and kisses my lips and we walk in opposite directions so i could take paisley to daycare

Once in the daycare I signed her in with Michelle and made sure she was okay before going to the lunge to get dressed

A few hours later and I am checking in on my next patient before heading to have lunch with Arizona

"Hey guys. How are we feeling?" I ask walking into the room

"The same as before... I'm not getting better Dr.Torres." My patient Ethan explains,

He is 68 and damaged his wrist in a fall that I am supposed to go in and put some screws after lunch

He also has a bad heart so this surgery is risky if he wants to go through with it

"I know Ethan.... Has Dr.Pierce been back in?" I ask him

"No... not since this morning" his wife tells me

"Well. If you get the surgery I have scheduled then it will put some strain on your heart being under the anesthesia. As for your wrist I can put a cast on it but it's not going to fix permanently unless we do go through with the surgery" I explain

"No he can't do your surgery" Maggie says coming into the room

"Mr.Miller. I just got your scans back that we took. Unfortunately your heart will not make it though Dr.Torres' surgery" she explains

""So what happens now?" His wife ask

"I can go in and try to repair some of the damage to your heart but even then... the surgery is risky" Maggie explains

"What if I do nothing and just go home?" He ask

"You won't make it another week" Maggie says sadly

"Well... let's do the surgery then" he says

"Ethan!" His wife gasp

"Hunny I will die either way.." he says and holds her hand

"Don't hold back for me you hear? I want you to be happy. So when I die. You can move on. Find someone who makes you happy" he says

"Oh Ethan" Mrs.Miller sighs and holds his hand tightly

Once I left his room I immediately went to Arizona's office

"If I die. You can move on. I want you to be happy. I won't be upset. I want you and paisley to be happy okay? So if I die please don't beat yourself up forever thinking you can't go on with your life with someone else" I say and she looks at me shocked

"Well..... if I die. You're not allowed to move on. You can't love someone else as much as you love me. I will haunt you" she smiles

"Arizona I'm serious" I say and sit down on the couch next to her

"Me too." She says

"But. Neither of us are dying. Not anytime soon" she says and holds my hand

"Now... can we go get lunch?" She ask and I smile and kiss her cheek

"Let's go" I chuckle and she stands up excitedly

"So.... Any idea on who you would marry if I died?" I ask

"Calliope! Oh my god" She laughs and shakes her head

"Actually, Amelia. Definitely Amelia" she smirks

"What!? You can't marry Amelia" I say

"Why not? You just said that I could move on.... I'll move on with Amelia. Plus Paisley loves her" she says and I frown

"New rule. You can move on as long as they don't work at the hospital" I say and she hums

"What if she quits? Then can I move on?" She ask

"Arizona I'm going to murder you" I say and she laughs and kisses my cheek

"I'm just playing baby," she smiles

"Mmhm sure" I say and she kisses me again, making me smile

"Better?" She ask

"Hmm, not yet" I say and she rolls her eyes but kisses me a few more times before the elevator doors open

"Better" I smile and we walk off the elevator hand in hand

Arizona and I just put paisley down for bed and are now sitting in the bath together,

"I love when we get to do this" she smiles and leans her head back

"Me too" I reply and do the same while trailing my fingers up her thigh

"Cut that out" she chuckles and crosses her legs

"Hey!" I pout

"Not now. Later. I promise" she says and finishes the wine in her glass

"Fine" I say rolling my eyes playfully and she smiles and shakes her head
