Chapter 15

Arizona's POV

Ive been back at work now for two weeks, my transition back in was easy and now it's back to like it never happened

I got Paisley dressed in a pair of training underwear and a cute romper, she has been doing really good with no accidents during the day, we still send pull ups with her to daycare for nap time and just incase, on days that we are really busy she also wears them because sometimes she tends to forget and not tell us that she has to use the bathroom

"Let's go get mommy" I smile and pick her up, letting her settle on my hip before taking her downstairs to Callie who was making breakfast

"Your mom wants to get lunch today" she tells me

"She called you?" I ask and she laughs

"Yes... is that a bad thing?" She smiles

"No.... But why didn't she call me" I wonder

"She said she tried but you didn't answer" Callie says and I nod

"Probably because a certain two year old had my phone" I say and Callie smiles as I put paisley into her high chair

After breakfast the three of us were on the way to the hospital.

"Oh can you take her?" I ask Callie once heading my pager go off

"Mmhmm, come here baby girl" she smiles and Paisley happily goes into her arms

"I'll see you for lunch" I say and kiss her lips and paisleys head as I quickly make my way to the PEDS floor

After dealing with the emergency I was able to change into scrubs in time for my surgery which lasted until lunch

Surgery went well, nothing unexpected happen which is always good.

Since Callie is till finishing up a surgery I decided to text her and tell her I would get Paisley from daycare since she was going to originally for lunch

Once I got down to the daycare it sounded like they were having a bad day, it was loud and a child sounded very upset, but I recognized that cry, and noticed paisley on the floor while Michelle tried to comfort her

"Momma!" She yells when she sees me and runs over with her arms up so I lifted her and she clung tightly to me

"What's wrong bug? What happened?" I ask and she shakes her head and I look to Michelle

"She had a bad time at drop off, not wanting Dr.Torres to leave. Eventually she was okay and started to get upset around 30 minutes ago and wouldn't let anyone else near her" she tells me and I frown

"Did something happen?" I ask

"Nothing happened, she was playing by herself one minute and the next she was upset."

"Okay... we'll for now on page me, even if I'm in surgery," I say and she nods

"I'm going to go ahead and sign her out for now though" I say and she nods, Michelle has been working in the daycare since before paisley was born and she is paisleys favorite which automatically makes her my favorite

"I'm sorry if I came across harsh or mean" I say and she smiles

"Arizona you didn't, I understand why you would be upset and I will make sure to page you myself for now on if I need too" she smiles and I thank her,

"I want nini momma" paisley cries once we left the daycare

"I don't have it bug, we're going to go see Grammy for lunch" I say, which is true. She has one in her diaper bag for nap time at daycare and once in both Callie and mines offices which are the opposite way of the cafeteria

"Why are you so upset?" I ask and she shrugs

"Just a bad day? You were all happy this morning" I frown

"I want momma" she says and I sigh

"I know baby, I'm here" I say and continue trying to comfort her as we walked into the cafeteria where Callie and my mom was sitting

"What happened?" My mom ask immediately

"I don't know, she is just upset" I sigh and sit down with paisley who was. Now rubbing her eyes with the back of her hand

"You want to sit with Grammy?" I ask and she shakes her head no

"What about mommy?" I ask and the same thing, she was really starting to worry me. What happened to the happy little girl this morning

"Maybe she is just tired" my mom suggest

"I mean she went to bed a little late but nothing too drastic" I say as we get our lunch and sit back down

"Did she sleep through the night?" My mom ask

"Yea? She has been sleeping through the night since she was 6 months old" i say and my mom sighs

"Yes, but she still could have just had a bad night and it's all catching up to her" she says and I nod

"Maybe, but I didn't hear her up, did you?" I ask Callie and she shakes her head

"No... but usually unless she is crying or screaming at us we don't" she says and I nod that was all true

"Yea... maybe she just didn't sleep well" I say and fed her a little lunch off of my plate until she refused

"Nini momma" she says and Bounce her slightly, trying to keep from having a tantrum in the cafeteria

"I know bug and we will get it after lunch" I say, it was her nap time anyway soon and she is allowed to have it for nap and bedtime

"I missed you girls, don't be strangers and stop by after work, I can have dinner ready so you don't have to cook" my mom smiles

"We will. I promise" Callie tells her and she hugs the three of us

"Thank you for coming for lunch even if your granddaughter is a little grumpy" I say and she smiles

"That's okay, not even two year olds have good days all the time" she says

"I love you, drive safe" I smile and she leaves

"You taking her back to daycare?" Callie ask

"I don't have anything planned until 2. I was hoping to just get my paperwork done, I still have quite a bit" I say

"She will probably fall asleep as soon as you put her down" Callie tells me

"Yea I know," I say and and give Callie a kiss since we had to go in different directions

Once back in my office paisley began to get fussy again,

"Nini momma" she cries and I get one out of my drawer to give to her and I quickly got her changed into a pull up before cradling her in my arms and rocking back and forth, like Callie had said she was out within 5 minutes

I was able to get most of the work I needed done with her still in my lap and she woke up an hour later and I had about half an hour until I had a consult

"Morning" I smile and kiss her head

"You ready to go back to daycare?"'I ask and she shakes her head

"Why not?" I ask and she shrugs

"Well momma has to work... you only have to for a little bit and I will come get you" I say

"Nini?" She ask and I sigh

"You can keep nini only this time. Okay? Just today" I say and she nods happily as we leave my office and head down to the daycare

"Hi paisley" Michelle smiles

"She seems to be doing better, she just woke up so she might still be a little tired, but I will be picking her up after my consults" I tell her and she nods

After signing her in I hurried off to my consult, I just hope the rest of the day goes smoother
