Hitting Reset Season 3: Family Life Part 1

Chapter 54

Matt's POV: After spending the past hour in bed with the kids, I smiled when Gabby was done putting them in their cribs which the hospital gave us. I just hope they can take a nap for a bit after we fed them. Now, we just need to remember who needs to get fed what next time. During this last feeding, Andy got to feed from Gabby's breast....while Noah got to feed from a bottle. That means next time that I get to feed Andy. That should be easy to remember. Turning around to look at me when the kids were in their cribs, Gabby smiled at me as she came to get back in bed with me. Slipping close to me, Gabby leaned against her pillow and then proceeded to slip her legs in between mine just to tease me a little bit. "Such a tease." Gabby smiled and agreed.

"What do you expect? I'm hormonal." I nodded and agreed with Gabby when she said that, going to grab her hand before intertwining our fingers. I then proceeded to kiss her hand and just smiled because of how much I loved her. "You know that you mean the world to me right?" Gabby nodded when I asked her that and just smiled at me. "I know you do. And that's why I know that you mean it when you say that you are going to try and be as safe as possible. Me, the boys and our girls need you Matt." I nodded and agreed with her when she said that. "I know you do. By the way, still can't believe we are so lucky to be having twins again." Gabby smiled and agreed with me when I said that. "Well now we both know you can't quit the CFD now."

I looked at her when she said that. "Why would I quit the CFD?" Gabby smiled when I asked her that. "Oh, don't lie that this made you think about it for a second. I mean, how many times can you realistically escape death?" I shrugged and agreed with Gabby when she said that, knowing how true that was. Heck, we did just loose another one of our friends recently after all. "I am sorry that we are starting off this pregnancy with a bunch of stress again." Gabby sighed and agreed with me when I said that. "It's okay Matt and I mean it. I am doing better." I nodded and agreed with her when she said that, going to kiss the side of her head. "Can you at least promise me that you are going to tell me if something starts brothering you babe? I'm here for you."

Gabby nodded and agreed with me when I said that. "I guess I'm just a little down considering the fact that I just told you that I'm pregnant this morning...and now you are in the hospital, injured." I nodded and agreed with Gabby when she said that, really feeling bad for her. I knew that she hated the situation that we have been put in, but we are going to make the best of it. I already knew that was going to be the case. "Well, we can look at it positively if we try babe." Gabby looked up at me when I said that and just laughed. "How exactly can we look at this positively?" I smiled at her. "We can think about the fact that we are off right now. That we are here together, as a family. I have you in my arms and our boys over there in their cribs."

Gabby smiled and agreed with me when I said that. "I actually like that fact. Heck, maybe we can get away together when you are out of the hospital. Take a bit of time together at a cabin?" I smiled at the idea because of how much I actually liked it. Going to kiss Gabby's forehead, I smiled at her. "I could always talk to Severide about us using his dad's old cabin." Gabby smiled and agreed with me when I said that. "By the way, I still can't believe that we are pregnant with twins." I laughed and agreed with her when she said that. "Looks like we are going to be needing a new house in a few years." Gabby nodded and agreed with me when I said that. "Maybe a bit further out of the city now that we no longer have to worry about Molly's." I agreed with her.

"Yeah, you are done at the restaurant babe." Gabby agreed with me. "Trust me when I say this, I am okay with that." I looked down at Gabby when she said that because I was actually quite shocked. "You are?" Gabby nodded and smiled when I asked her that. "Yeah, I'm okay with that because it means that I get more time with you and the kids." I smiled when she said that and just nodded as I bent down to kiss her softly. Taking it slow with her, I smiled because of how much I was in love with her. "God, I love you so much." Gabby smiled and agreed with me when I said that. "I know you do but...we still need to talk about this. We need to figure stuff out. Like, are we going to ask my mom to move in or something?" I bit my lip when she asked me that.
