Chapter 97

Meanwhile, with the Halstead Brothers:
Jay's POV: As I walk through the aisles of my local grocery store, I sigh considering I just saw what was next on my list. Erin's female products. I just hope some guys from the unit aren't there. They made fun of me last time and it's not fun having to always explain to them that she needs these things because she's pregnant. Going to turn into the aisle, I went to grab my list when I saw that my brother was doing a stop in here too. "Let me guess, Nat's  due for her pregnancy essentials?" Will turned to look at me when I said that and just laughed. "Erin?"

I agreed with him when he asked me that. "Now normally I would not be doing this but...she's as sick as a dog right now at home." My brother turned to look at me when I said that. "Oh no." I nodded and agreed with him when he said that. "Yeah. So, she's in bed because she has the flu and she's stressed because she doesn't want this to affect Olivia." My brother agreed with me when I said that. "Well, just make sure that she stays hydrated." I agreed with him when he said that. "Yeah, I called Nat and she told me what to do." Will agreed with me when I said that.

Going to walk over to some of the pregnancy vitamins, I went to grab some before leaving the aisle with my brother. "You know what to get by heart now?" I nodded. "Yeah, we are on our second pregnancy in 12 months. I literally just feel buying the same stuff from Jayson, haven't stopped actually since we got pregnant right away." Will agreed with me when I said that and nodded. "Yeah, you did. How is she doing?" I sighed. "She has been but on bedrest for the rest of her pregnancy. So, I am now working from home. So, that's a blessing and a curse."

Will was confused when I said that. "Why would it be a curse?" I sighed. "Jayson is rocking." Will laughed when I said that. "Oh no." I nodded and agreed with him when he said that. "Yeah, so that means that he's going to be crawling. Then again, he's 7 months in 2 weeks." Will agreed with me when I said that. Walking down the next aisle, I saw that we had my protein bars and shakes. Going to grab the pouches and bars, I smiled as I put them in my basket. "By the way, I didn't see you at the gym this week. We were going to meet up Wednesday for cardio."

Will agreed with me when I said that and just sighed. "This case ran late, so I missed it. I should have called. But by the time I finished, I had to go home to help take care of Nat who was having pregnancy cramps. And honestly, I was exhausted after working a 14 hour shift." I agreed with him when he said that. "What time did you finish?" Will sighed when I asked him that. "I think I clocked out at 10:45 and got home around 11:15." I was shocked when he said that. "Bad case?" Will sighed. "I can't say anything." I agreed with him when he said that, rubbing his back.

Going to walk through the aisles together, I smiled as I went to point out some good pregnancy snacks to Will along the way. "Yeah, I am sure that Natalie is going to stick to what she likes. She has already done a pregnancy...and I am not going to switch it up without her permission." I agreed with him when he said that. "Trust me when I say this...Erin's cravings for this pregnancy are night and day to what she wanted for Jayson. It's crazy." Will agreed with me when I said that and just smiled as we both made our way through the aisles together, catching up as well.

After making my way through the aisles, I proceeded to make my way to the hot food area. (Will has now left to go home since Nat needs him). But, I am not done yet. I need to get us some quick meals. That's when I heard another friendly face walk up to me. "I would take the ones in the back. They are fresher." Turning around, I saw it was Antonio and smiled. "Hey, you're looking better." Going to walk over to him, I smiled as I went to hug him. "How are you doing?" Antonio laughed. "I am just trying to get my life in order." I sighed when he said that. "Oh no."

I already knew exactly what he meant of course because I smelt the alcohol in his breath. "Did you at least take a taxi here? I smell it man." Antonio agreed with me. "Yeah, just got some Advil." Going to walk  over to his basket, I went to make sure. "Sorry, I just want to make sure. Your sister is pregnant after all." He agreed with me when I said that. "Can you maybe not tell them yet? I was at my mom's place this morning for breakfast...." I looked at him when he said that. "And their boys are there?" He agreed with me when I said that. "Yeah, bad night."

I agreed with him when he said that. "Listen, my lips are sealed if you want to tell me." Antonio sighed when I said that. "Yeah, I am pretty sure that I owe Hank big time last night." I got scared when he said that. "He put in another call. I just got off another DUI." I was shocked when he said that. "ANTONIO! What the hell!" He agreed with me when I said that. "Did you tell your mom?" Antonio shook his head. "I'd appreciate it if you didn't tell anybody right now." I sighed. "I am at least going to tell Erin. Sorry man but, this is huge....and it's why you can't be the next Head."

Antonio agreed with me. "And I want to say this....don't get used to this. I am not bailing you out if you get a DUI when I'm in charge of Intelligence." Antonio sighed when I said that. "Now, if you don't mind me...I have to finish shopping and then give a call to our boss. I am not impressed. Wait, please tell me you weren't driving their kids." Antonio shook his head. "I am not that dumb." I agreed with him when when he said that. "Sorry but, I would have had to tell Matt and Gabby. Dude, I am a dad." Antonio agreed with me. "Keep it on the DL with the rest of intel."

I shook my head. "Antonio, you're suspended for the week." Antonio looked at me when I said that. "You can't do..." I just stared at him. "I am Deputy Head of Intelligence. I am your superior. I have every right to suspend you for a week. Get your act together." I then went to go walk away and I just sighed. I mean seriously, Hank does this behind my back? I told him that we need to make decisions together now. And this is not something he can do anymore. He can't be shady like this because that is not what I am going to do. God, the stress he causes me.
