Hitting Reset Season 3: Family Life Part 1

Chapter 95

Matt's POV:
Once me and Gabby finished in the bath this morning, I smiled as I put my sweats on. Sure, we said that we were going to have skin-to-skin time but...that was until Gabby started to feel a little lightheaded. Apparently, she didn't have her late night snack yesterday (I went to bed pretty much right away since we got home late)...and now, she needs to eat. Going to walk out to the kitchen (using my crutches), I saw Gabby putting some bagels in the toaster while eating a muffin. "I am glad that you are at least making something easy this morning." Turning around to look at me when I said that, Gabby just smiled at me. "Yeah, I figured that you wouldn't let me make anything that difficult considering I was feeling a little lightheaded."

I agreed with her when she said that, making my way over to her before standing in front of her. Looking into her eyes, I smiled at her. "You got me worried babe. Please promise me that you are going to eat. If not, I am going to have to ask your mom to move in." Gabby laughed when I said that, thinking I was joking but...I wasn't. "Oh, you're serious?" I nodded when she asked me that. "Yeah, I am. Babe, your healthy and the health of our child is the most important thing to me right now. Yes, I need to recover but...that is slow. You are currently pregnant and that is much more important to me." Gabby smiled and agreed with me when I said that, understanding that I was worried. "I promise, I am going to make sure to start eating more often." I smiled, nodding.

"I'm glad. We don't need to go back to the hospital anytime soon for anything other than appointments." Gabby nodded and smiled when I said that, knowing that I loved going to appointments with her if they dealt with our twins. I am still hoping that we are having twin girls, but we aren't sure yet. I just know that I am going to be happy with whatever gender we get at the end of the day. "So, how are you feeling other than that?" Gabby smiled when I asked her that. "I am doing good other than that. No problems with morning sickness this morning." I smiled and agreed with Gabby when she said that, really glad that was the case. "I'm happy to hear that." Gabby smiled and just agreed with me, moving to wrap her arms around my waist. 

Putting my hand on her arm, I smiled and just went to rub it. "You're tired aren't you?" Gabby nodded and sighed. "I may have woken up a few times in the middle of the night to check on you." I nodded and agreed with her, going to kiss her forehead softly. While it was not idea...I knew that she was not going to stop doing it. She's worried about me and I know that I am going to have to put up with it until I'm off my crutches and cleared to go back to work. And heck, I might even get it then. "Just remember to breathe for me okay babe?" Gabby nodded when I said that and just smiled. She must know that I worry about her because she always tells me that she understands. "So, we are just cuddling in our bed today right?" Gabby nodded.

"Well, I thought maybe we could look for some girl clothes. I am pretty sure that we are having girls because I am not carrying the same way." I nodded and agreed with Gabby when she said that. That's when I decided to move away to go get some ice. "You okay babe?" I nodded when Gabby asked me that. "I am just going to bring some ice. My knee is hurting me." Gabby looked at me when I said that and I could just see that she felt bad for me. "Baby, then go lay down okay? I can do this for you. It's just toast." I shook my head. "Gabby, I can..." Gabby then glared at me. "Remind me who's the paramedic in this marriage?" I sighed and agreed with Gabby when she said that. "You are." Gabby nodded and agreed with me when I said that. "Exactly."

I nodded and just agreed with Gabby when she said that. Stepping close to her, I went to kiss her and just smiled at her. "I love you." Gabby smiled and agreed with me when I told her that. "I love you too. But I mean it okay? Go back to bed and put that ice on your knee. After that, turn on the TV and we can just watch our recordings. Matt, the most important thing for us to do right now is to let you recover. I mean that okay?" I nodded and agreed with Gabby when she said that. "I am just sorry that I am not being as much help with the twins right now." Gabby shook her head when I told her that. "Hey, don't even go down that path okay babe? Everything is fine." I nodded and agreed with Gabby when she said that, already knowing that she means it.

Walking up to her, I went to give her a kiss and just smiled. "I love you." Gabby smiled and agreed with me when I told her that. "I love you too. Now seriously, how about you go lay down?" I nodded and smiled when Gabby said that. "You are coming to join me right?" Gabby laughed and just smiled when I asked her that. "Let me see...is there anywhere else I can cuddle up to me husband?" I shook my head and just smiled when Gabby asked me that. "I love you more than anything in the entire world and I am glad we are having twins again. Now, just don't let me down and give me some girls." Gabby laughed when I said that, watching me hobble away to our bedroom. "Yeah, last time I checked...your sperm decided that." I agreed, laughing.

Gabby's Thoughts:
As I watched Matt hobble away to our bedroom, I couldn't help but think about just how lucky I am to be his wife. I am completely in love with that man and I know that I am lucky. I just hope that our boys know how lucky they are that he is their father. I have never met a better man to raise a family with...and for him to also be my husband is even better. Calling this my dream life would be a disservice to what it is. This is my fantasy life...and dream come true. Matt is the most caring, loving father and husband...and I am so proud to call him mine. Trust me when I say this ladies...there is no way in hell that I am going to ever give that man up. These rings that are on our fingers are permanent and that means he is going to be my husband until the day I die.

Now, let's get back to breakfast. I am sure that Matt's hungry right now and that means that I need to get this food cooked and on some plates. Then, I can carry into our room and get in bed with Matt. Now, that's something I really love to do. Nothing like spending the day cuddling up to my man in bed. That is all I want to do right now and I just hope that people don't call us or come to the door. Sorry people, but we just got home yesterday and we don't have our boys here. That means that me and Matt can have some quality husband-wife time. Heck, maybe we can even plan a "babymoon/honeymoon" that is long overdue. I am definitely going to bring that up today. I want to book it for when he's healed. He needs to take me away on a trip.

And honestly, I already know that he wants to because he has said that in the past. God, the idea of the two of us going on a trip alone sounds perfect. Maybe not too far though since the boys are still so young. Either that or we can bring them. Maybe we can talk to Severide and let us use his cabin. Now that is something I want to do. I know that they are home and I wouldn't mind it if we go together. Maybe I should bring it up to Matt at some point today. If he's in favor of it, then it might be easier for us to talk to Severide together. All I know is that I need to get on a honeymoon/babymoon with my man before we have our daughters. (I don't care if we don't know the genders yet, I am saying they are going to be girls...I have insight from higher powers).

That's when I decided to start making my way to our room. I know for a fact that Matt is hungry and he definitely wants to cuddle up to me. So, let's get eating.
