Chapter 2.5 Countermeasures

Soo-jin woke up in a room and saw Kiana sitting on the side with her head on the side of the bed while holding his hand.

"She's cute when sleeping." Soo-jin smiled

The door opens and Mei entered with a plate of sandwiches.

"Ah, Soo-jin, you're awake now." Mei smiled

"We were so worried, but luckily Class Monitor got you back." Mei said

"Where's Himeko and Theresa? I need to talk with them." Soo-jin said

Suddenly, Kiana woke up and saw the two of them talking.

"Soo-jin, you're awake!!" Kiana said

"Noisy..." Soo-jin stared at Kiana with an annoyed look on his face

"We were so worried. Even Class Monitor came this morning." Kiana said

The visible annoyance on Soo-jin's face disappears and he smiles.

"Sorry, I made you all worry." Soo-jin said

"But I have no time to talk right now. I have to go speak with Himeko and Theresa." Soo-jin said

Soo-jin went to the principal's office and heard Himeko and Theresa talking inside.

Soo-jin knocks on the door and it was opened by Himeko.

"Speak of the devil, Soo-jin. We were just talking about you and we're about to go talk to you." Himeko said

Himeko lets Soo-jin inside and he sat on one of the couches inside the principal's office.

"Soo-jin, are you alright now?" Theresa asked

"I am. Put my current condition aside, I have something to talk about." Soo-jin said

"What are you going to do now, Soo-jin?" Theresa asked

"... Is there a way to control a Herrscher's power?" Soo-jin asked

"There is. But I doubt it'll be easy. The only Herrscher who was able to keep their humanity was the first Herrscher, the current Herrscher of Reason and Sovereign of Anti-Entropy, Welt Yang." Himeko said, showing a picture of him

"Eh?! Welt Yang, our previous history teacher was a Herrscher?!" Soo-jin asked

In case you didn't know, Welt Yang was a teacher at St. Freya. I was surprised when I saw it on the AE Invasion manga.

"Yes." Theresa said

"Forget that he was a teacher here." Soo-jin said

"I can go ask him how he's done it, right?" Soo-jin asked

"I don't think he'll help you out." Theresa said

"How did you free yourself from the Herrscher's control?" Himeko asked

"... I forgot." Soo-jin said and the two fell

"I think Class Monitor broke a horn." Soo-jin said

"I see." Theresa said

"Let's observe you for a while. We'll give you time to control your Herrscher powers. We'll also be looking after you. In case you go rogue, we're going to put a bomb in your heart." Theresa said

"Principal Theresa, you're scaring me." Soo-jin sweatdropped

"Don't worry. You'll have five minutes to get back in control of your body. It won't explode the moment you turn into a Herrscher." Theresa smiled

"... It still is scaring me." Soo-jin said

"But, if putting a bomb in my heart can make everyone safe, please do." Soo-jin said with a determined look on his face

Soo-jin didn't return to the dorm for the night to implant a bomb inside his heart.

After the surgery, Soo-jin was walking back to the dorm with Himeko.

"Soo-jin, how do you feel?" Himeko asked

"Pretty much scared and happy." Soo-jin said

"What do you mean?" Himeko asked

"I'm scared that I might lose control and get my heart blown into smithereens. But I'm actually happy that doing this increases the chance of avoiding a Herrscher going in a huge rampage like in the Second Honkai Eruption." Soo-jin said, holding his chest

"Mei is the one who can empathize with you the most. Maybe you can talk to her about that. But don't forget that I'm also here for you." Himeko said, ruffling Soo-jin's hair

"I'm really grateful you were my teacher, Himeko." Soo-jin smiled

"It's 'Himeko-sensei' if you really acknowledge me as your teacher." Himeko said

"Sounds weird, but okay. Himeko-sensei." Soo-jin said

"Yeah... it does sound weird coming from you." Himeko said
