Chapter 24 Reunion with Hyperion

Soo-jin woke up and saw himself in a room.

"Kiana..." Soo-jin looked around

The Kiana he always expected to wake up to in the morning wasn't there and he immediately stood up. Seeing some things injected on to his arm, he followed where it was coming from and saw a blood bag connected to it. The door opens and Mei entered to see him standing up.

"Where is Kiana?!" Soo-jin asked

Soo-jin felt a sharp pain on his stomach and he fell, but Mei caught him.

"Soo-jin... Kiana was taken away by Durandal..." Mei said

"I see..." Soo-jin said

Mei helps Soo-jin get back up on his bed and she hugs him.

"Sorry... I wasn't strong enough to prevent Durandal..." Mei cried

"It's alright... If she was taken away again, then I'll save her again. No matter how many times she gets taken away." Soo-jin said

"What a touching reunion." Theresa entered with Bronya while holding a tray of food

"Calm down for a moment, Soo-jin. Your stitches might open." Theresa said

"How is subject Soo-jin feeling?" Bronya asked

"I don't know." Soo-jin said lay back on his bed, facing the wall

"I need some time alone to think." Soo-jin said

"Hey, at least eat. You've been sleeping for two days now." Theresa scolded him

"Let's just leave Soo-jin alone for now. Maybe he needs some rest..." Mei said

"Okay..." Theresa said

"But make sure to eat!" Theresa said

The three left Soo-jin alone in his room, but Mei couldn't help glancing at him worriedly.

Night came, Soo-jin ignored Theresa's scoldings and three food trays have already been left on his table. None of them were eaten, not even a single bite were on the food.

At midnight, he felt the door open and someone got on the bed. A pair of arms wrapped around him and he could feel a slow pattern of breathing on his back.

"Sorry, Soo-jin... It's all my fault that Kiana's been taken away." Mei said

"I made up my mind. There's no use in apologizing now." Soo-jin said

Mei flinched a little and she holds her breath for a few seconds.

"All you have to do is get better and prevent that same thing from happening again, but still be ready for the same thing to happen again and get far more better." Soo-jin continued

"I don't know if thst could make you feel better. Comforting people... is just really not my thing." Soo-jin said

"No, it's more than enough to make me feel better." Mei said

Soo-jin turns around and his face met with Mei's. Mei blushed for a moment before she holds Soo-jin's face.

"Soo-jin... you have to eat now." Mei said with a hint of worry in her voice

"Right." Soo-jin said as he sat on the bed

"I'll go bring you new food." Mei smiled

"Oh, that reminds me. You told me your phone fell into the river. Rita handed it to me before I last saw her." Mei said, handing Soo-jin's phone

The screen had many cracks already, but it still was a very valuable item for him. It contained every memory he treasured at St. Freya.

"I have to thank her the next time I see her." Soo-jin said

Mei left and Soo-jin opened his phone to see if it really was his. He smiled when he saw the picture of Kiana sleeping on his chest.

Soo-jin stood up and walked to the mirror in the room while taking his shirt off. He looked at himself and he certainly did get a bit thinner during the span of three months.

"I need to get back in shape if I want to save Kiana." Soo-jin said

A day later, Soo-jin was finally regaining his strength and was later released.

Soo-jin returned to the room he shared with Kiana, Mei and Bronya before 'those' happened. Soo-jin walks to his bed and noticed a new face above his bunk bed.

"Um... Are you the teammate Bronya was talking about?"

"Huh? Who are you?" Soo-jin asked

"I'm Seele. I just joined the Hyperion. Nice to meet you." Seele smiled

"Hwang Soo-jin. Bronya and Mei's other teammate." Soo-jin said

Seele smiled at Soo-jin until she was out of his sight when he got on his bed.

"Bronya and Mei described him differently. They said he was more joyful and friendly. Did something happen?" Seele wondered

Suddenly, Mei entered while holding a long bag which was about the size of Soo-jin's sword.

"Hello, Seele." Mei smiled

"Hello, Mei." Seele smiled

"Was Soo-jin he-" Mei looked under Seele's bed and saw Soo-jin sleeping

"Haha, Soo-jin must've been tired from the physical tests earlier..." Mei said

"Is that so?" Seele asked

"Yes. Why?" Mei asked

"Well... You and Bronya described him to be more cheerful, but when I saw him, he looked kind of... tired." Seele asked

"Something happened to Soo-jin and Kiana before he got back here." Mei said

"Come with me, let's talk about it outside since we might bother Soo-jin. I'll leave his new sword here though." Mei said
