It had been a couple weeks, and it was nearing the end of the first quarter of school. Seeing as it was nearing a close, Oliver wanted to do something fun to celebrate surviving through one fourth of our senior year.
Of course, I didn't want to do anything extravagant. I would be just fine with a simple movie night at someone's house. Fingers crossed that's what Oliver was planning.
Over the course of the weeks since the scavenger hunt, Hunter and I had continued talking. We became well acquainted over our friends, especially as Oliver was my partner in Biology. Plus, since Oliver was slowly growing closer to Skylar and Harper continuously ditched me to try and break Logan out of his shell, we kind of drifted together.
Harper still liked Logan, and he seemed to return the feeling although he never showed it. Instead, he continued talking to her, making her one of the small number of people he actively talked to. Harper was thrilled. On the drive back to my house, she would rant about him and what she had learnt that day.
So far, nothing had tipped me off about him. So I approved. For now. Harper and I had also fully accepted Skylar into our little duo, making us a trio. She fit in well, Harper's enthusiasm, Skylar's calmness and my neutrality made us a perfect little trio. Skylar had been getting closer to Oliver too, making it known of her slight crush on him. Though, she'd never admit it, especially not to his face.
Even though I didn't know Skylar or Oliver very well, they seemed like a good match. His enthusiasm and her cool-headedness balanced each other out. Although, I wasn't sure if Oliver would ever man-up enough to ask her out..
Hunter and I had slowly grown closer, being shoved together as our friends continuously partnered off, leaving us on our own. It didn't necessarily bother me, but I much preferred Harper's company to Hunter's. Harper understood me, and knew more about me than anyone else. Hunter, knew practically nothing, through no fault of his own however, I just hadn't known him long enough to trust him.
Speaking of them, the boys had just walked up to Harper and I as we stood together in front of my locker. I watched as Harper stopped talking about her dog to turn slightly towards the boys, more specifically Logan, as they approached. When they finally stopped in front of us, I caught the final snippets of their previous conversation.
"Dude no, Call of Duty is better than Halo, for sure." Oliver's statement was made clearly, although both Hunter and Logan rolled their eyes at him.
Hunter was first to speak, "Obviously not, Halo is so much better storyline wise." Oliver was quick with his rebuttal.
"So? A good storyline is no match for being able to customize weapons, plus the multiplayer is better." Logan then chose that moment to chime in.
"Call of Duty has better graphics, but is harder to play multiplayer when you're in the same room. Halo has good graphics, a great storyline and is good for multiplayer. Halo's just better." Hunter was quick to nod in agreement while Oliver simply shook his head.
