Esme quickly learned how chatty Warrington was, how quiet Montague was, how much Pucey disliked her, and how much Bletchley reminded her of Fred.

Elliott sat next to her, leading the conversation about quidditch. It was weird, sitting with almost the entire quidditch team.

The only one who didn't play for Slytherin, was Montague.

Esme was in conversation with Warrington, and Elliott smiled, loving that his girlfriend got along with his friends — well, apart from Adrian.

Esme quickly learned that the Slytherin boys weren't as bad as she had thought. They weren't as bad as people said. The house had a bad reputation. The only people who liked Slytherin, was the Slytherins, and people who didn't care to get to know them.

At the same time, Elliott's friends learned that Esme wasn't a know-it-all. She could be fun to talk with and she didn't think she was better than the other houses, which was a common trait with the Gryffindors.

Esme was the only happiness Elliott had right now. So much was going on with his family. Now that the Dark Lord was back, so was his family's position as death eaters.

He wasn't exactly fond of his family's opinions and their beliefs, but he couldn't do much to change them. He couldn't tell Esme about it. She didn't deserve to be burdened with his problems.

"How come you're sitting with us and now your small friends?" Adrian decided to ask, eating some dry cereal while looking at Esme.

As her eyes dropped on him, her smile faded and she shrugged.

"What is it to you?"

A smirk spread across his face.

"Trouble in paradise?" He pouted and tilted his head. "Did they kick you out of their little group?"

"Mate!" Elliott snapped, throwing his slice of bread at him.

"What?" Adrian asked. "I was asking her a question. I'm not allowed to ask her a question?"

"Exactly. I'm glad you get it." Elliott said, tone full of sarcasm, and Adrian rolled his eyes.

"Forget about Adrian." Warrington said smiling widely at Esme who returned the smile weakly. "Did you see the look on your friends faces when you walked in with us for breakfast?"

Esme let out a small chuckle, then looked towards the Gryffindor table, feeling just an ounce of guilt.

George wasn't eating. He was staring into the room, no emotion behind those pretty eyes of his.

Fred and Lee were in a discussion and when Fred caught Esme's eyes, he smiled warmly which told her that he wasn't upset with her.

Elliott nudged her side with his elbow, and as Esme looked at him, she smiled.

"I'll walk you to class." He said quietly.

"Oh, you don't have to—"

"I want to." He assured her, grabbing her hand under the table. "I haven't been able to be your boyfriend in public until now. Let me walk you to class."

Esme nodded and he smiled his charming smile before he continued eating his breakfast.

"Oi, Night." Bletchley caught Esme's attention.

He was talking while chewing and Esme tried not to make a face at how disgusting that was.

"How's it being the sister of the Ethan Night? Hogwarts quidditch legend..."

"Hogwarts quidditch legend?" Esme cocked an eyebrow. "I wouldn't call him that. Sure, Ethan is great at quidditch, but I'm even better so if anyone should be a quidditch legend, it should be me."

He smiled in satisfaction, apparently having liked the answer, and Warrington laughed, throwing his head back.

"Pass me the pumpkin juice?" Montague asked from next to Esme, and she passed it over, watching him pour it, then offered her some.

"Thank you." She said quietly as he pouted pumpkin juice into her glass.

"No problem." He cleared his throat and took a sip of his juice.

"Are you gonna come watch us practice tonight, Esme?" Warrington asked. "I'll bewitch a bludger to hit Malfoy if you say yes."

Esme opened her mouth to answer when Pucey broke into the conversation.

"Are you crazy? She's on the opponents team. She can't see our strategies and run straight to her team with the information."

"Dude..." Warrington laughed. "...you sound like she's on some top secret mission. Relax, yeah?"

"Plus, we aren't working on the strategy tonight." Elliott said. "We're gonna work out, get in better shape for this season and since I'm the captain, I'm saying that Esme can come if she wants to."

The he looked at Esme for an answer, and she offered him a smile.

"I have to write my essay." She said, tilting her head, and Elliott smiled.

"The essay you have all week to write? I told you to relax and not put too much pressure on yourself, love. You're gonna stress yourself out."

Esme sighed, then looked towards the Gryffindor table again. She had actually hoped to be able to speak to George and get an apology from him tonight, but he didn't seem to care. When he glanced at her and then looked away with that same sour expression, Esme nodded and glanced at her boyfriend.

"Okay. I'll be there."

"Fantastic!" Warrington exclaimed and slammed his hands against the table a little too hard, causing the entire hall to go quiet.

He looked up towards the staff table and raised a hand, shouting an apology to the teachers who looked in their direction.

"That was embarrassing." He then said, looking at Esme and widened his eyes. "But that's fucking fantastic. Bet you haven't seen how crazy attractive your boyfriend is during practice."

Esme narrowed her eyes, and Warrington laughed.

"Oh, I'm not gay or anything but it's clear to anyone with eyes, that your boyfriend is a piece of art."

"Great, thanks Cass." Elliott rolled his eyes and stood up as he realised that Esme was done eating. "I'm walking Esme to class. We'll see you later."

Elliott held out his hand and Esme took it, waving a short goodbye to her new friends before following him out of the great hall, one hand wrapped around his arm.

"Are you okay?" Esme asked when she noticed Elliott's clenched jaw.

"They annoy me some times." Elliott shrugged but when he looked at her, he smiled. "Your things are in your dorm, right?"

"Yes." Esme nodded. "Where else would they be?"

They walked together to the Gryffindor common room, and Esme let him follow her all the way inside and to her dorm.

It was quite messy which Elliott seemed to find hilarious, especially because it was only Esme's side.

"Esme Eileen Night. You live like this?" He gasped and Esme rolled her eyes at his cocky behaviour while walking around her room, finding her stuff for Transfiguration class. "This is amazing, love. I've always known you to be quite the perfectionist."

"With my schoolwork, yes." She told him, glancing at him shortly. "But I wish I was better at keeping a tidy room."
