Dumbledore welcomed every student from every house into the Great Hall with a weary smile. Students passed whispers around in a swirl of confusion. It wasn't often they were gathered on a weekend. The last time that happened was the day the war started. Sirius and Jude had made it back to the common room and were now being ushered in with the others. The lights were out at the curtains were drawn shut. There was just enough light to see where they were walking.

The Marauders and Jude found a spot by Lily, Marlene, Dorcas, and Mary at the Gryffindor table. Jude spotted Eddie in the crowd and waved him over. When he made it, they hugged and she whispered, "What's going on?"

Eddie just shrugged. "Dunno. McGonagall rounded us all up this morning. She seemed real shaken up."

Jude sat back down, this time even closer to Sirius. "Does this kind of thing happen often?"

Sirius shook his head. "The only time I remember them doing this on a Saturday was when the war broke out. They sat us down, told us, and let us go back to bed."

"Well," she seemed unsure of herself. "Maybe they're hear to tell is it's over?" The statement came out in the form of a question.

"Attention, students!" Dumbledore stood at a pedestal in the front of the hall. Every voice silenced and eyes fell onto him. "I know you were all looking forward to sleeping in this morning. Unfortunately, we had a safety concern and believe it would be better for us to gather here."

James leaned in, whispering to the group. "Safety issue?"

Marlene shook her head and shrugged. Dorcas furrowed her brows.

Dumbledore continued. "As I am sure you're all aware, the attacks carried out by the Dark Lord's army have begun to grow in numbers. We have been alerted that the last attack was two towns over."

A roar of murmurs arose from the students.

"Silence!" Dumbledore held up his hand. "I know you may be fearful, but I assure you, as long as you are at Hogwarts, you are safe." He took a deep breath and returned to his speech. "We have many Muggleborn students in these halls."

Sirius turned his head to Jude. Her face was white as a ghost.

"To these students, I advise you to stay indoors. Travel in groups. Do not do anything reckless. Professors and staff will be posted around school. If you have any doubts, concerns, or fears, please advise them."

Sirius stayed staring at Jude who was frozen, staring at Dumbledore. He might have known pain and fear in his life, but he would never understand this type of fear. After all, he was a pureblood. Not knowing what to say, he took her hand in his. He caught Eddie's eyes. The brother didn't even seem annoyed at Sirius, let alone angry, as usual. Instead, he was just glad Sirius was providing Jude with some sort of comfort.

Dumbledore spoke again. "Until we know more, all activities, including Quidditch, are cancelled until further notice. If you are not walking to class, you must be in your common room. If you break these rules, you will be facing expulsion from Hogwarts. Do we understand?"

The students nodded.

"Perfect. Your Head Boys and Girls will lead you back to your common room with the help of the Prefects. Be smart. This is a trying time for us all. Do not fall to temptations, good or bad."

James and Lily stood, escorting the Gryffindors back to the common room.

The girls and Eddie joined the Marauders in their dorm and they all sat on the floor, in a circle. No one told a joke. In fact, no one said a word. Among them were four muggleborns- Mary, Lily, Eddie, and Jude- scared to death. Mary was sitting next to Peter and Eddie, both boys with an arm around her. Lily was jittering, her head on Remus' shoulder and her hand unusually close to James'. Marlene and Dorcas were curled up together.

Sirius had Jude's hand in his. He could feel her shaking. Something in him stopped his eyes from falling on her face. He just couldn't do it.

Then she spoke up. "We'll be fine. They won't come here. They wouldn't dare....Right?"

James sat up and lifted his chin. "Exactly. No one is coming near the school as long as Dumbledore's here." He smiled at Lily.

But Sirius knew that wasn't true. The Death Eaters would do whatever they wanted. He knew what they were capable of. He saw it first hand. But if the statement brought comfort to the others, he wouldn't say a thing. Maybe there was someone he could ask about it. Someone who had connections to Voldemort.

Then a thought came to his head. He stood up and marched to the door.

"Oi, Pads," Remus caught his attention. "Where are you going? We can't leave the common room."

Sirius kept walking. "I have someone to talk to."

James, Peter, and Remus looked at each other and then back to Sirius. James was the first to speak. "Sirius, I don't think nows the best time to go see Re-"

"I'm going," Sirius opened the door.

Before he could leave, a hand grabbed his, stopping him. He turned and saw James and Jude. James handed him the map. "You might need this."

Sirius nodded, folding the map and tucking it in his pocket. He looked to Jude. Her hand was the one in his. "And you?"

She planted a kiss on his cheek. "Just giving you some luck." She let go of his hand. "Be safe, please?"

"I'll be back before you know it." He closed the door behind him.

Jude turned to the others. "Where's he going?"

Remus looked at the others, unsure if he should answer. "To talk to a Death Eater."

She groaned and plopped down by Eddie. "Fecking eejit."

The group looked at Eddie. James raised his hand. "Translation?"

"She called him a fucking idiot."
