Kicking his feet, Pyre leaned back on one of the brick pillars behind the school. It was chilly, somewhere around forty or so, but he didn't mind the cold. It kept him awake enough to smoke a few cigarettes while he skipped class. Tugging his hood farther over his eyes, he pressed his lips tighter over his cigarette and took in a nice, long drag.

Before he could exhale it through his nose, however, the cancer stick had been snatched from his mouth.

Darn you, Fox.

Grumbling, he slowly sat up and looked down and to the side. There he was, the cigarette-stealing, shapeshifting, adorable-as-fuck guy who he'd found in a random classroom months ago. He'd been sitting by himself with one of the cafeteria's shitty pepperoni pizzas in front of him.

Unfortunately for him, the guy was one-hundred percent off limits now. He had no interest in fighting his two boyfriends, and then there were the adoptive parents...

Yeah, nope.

The kid stuck around, however, and slowly, he'd grown on him. He watched as the guy stomped out his cigarette, then ran over to a trash can to dispose of the butt before returning with a beaming smile.

"More morning sex?" Pyre asked, already knowing what the answer would be.

The guy had never done it before finally banging one of his boyfriends a month or so ago. After that... yeah. He also had no filter, so Pyre knew quite a bit more than anyone would ever care to about another person's stamina and other... bits.

It really didn't bother him, though.

When Fox nodded, Pyre chuckled and slid down from the long pillar. He landed with ease, then straightened right into a tight hug from Fox. He gave the guy a few moments before poking him in the belly enough times to make him release him.

He seemed to have this second sense about when he was feeling like shit, but he really wasn't the affectionate type, unless it was the physical kind where the other person was on their back or knees.

"Don't worry, Pyre. One day you will find a person."

One day? I don't plan to be around that much longer.

Instead of dampening the mood, he reached up and mussed up Fox's hair, then nudged him back toward the school.

"Get going. I know that you're close to graduating. You've been working hard, don't slip up now."

Thankfully, the guy never pried. He simply offered him a warm smile and then turned and ran, disappearing around the corner a moment later.

Fishing another cigarette out of his pocket, Pyre set it between his lips but didn't bother lighting it as he began walking toward the forest that bordered the school. He could hear kids yelling far off in the distance.

Maybe I'll have myself some fun today, after all.

It took him a few minutes to find the boys, and another one to realize what they were actually doing.

Really? Trying to kill a snake?

It was a pretty big one, too.

"Hey!" he yelled, immediately getting the attention of the five guys that were surrounding the curled up reptile.

"Fuck off, hot head!" one of them yelled.

Funny enough, they had once been his friends, but the nick name was established after they realized that he was unstable in most situations. He coveted the rare times he was able to go see his mother, and she would always cook for him. Making extra for his lunch the next day. She never said anything about the tattoos and cigarettes. Every time he'd walked through her doorway, she'd wrap him in a tight hug and immediately ask him what he wanted for dinner and show him the new hoodie or other clothing item she'd bought him.
