(Pepperjack told me she was done with pictures and to talk to the paw today)
A very faint, continuous sound slowly woke Pyre from his sleep. He'd almost woken up a few times before, but it had been ages since he'd slept in a real bed, and with a real teddy bear to snuggle? His brain might have been telling him it was time to get up, but his body was quite content to fall right back to sleep after a quick safety check with his ears.
Now, though, the near-silent hum of a television program did finally pull him completely out of his slumber. His eyes creaked open, but his mind was much slower to configure what they were seeing.
"Are you eating a Poptart in bed?" he mumbled sleepily, drawing Gin's attention down to him.
The guy glanced at the strawberry Poptart in his hand, then slowly lowered it toward Pyre's mouth.
"Are you?" he asked, instead of answering Pyre's question.
Touché.
Leaning up, Pyre took a small bite of the sugary, cardboard-esque pastry, then settled right back down against, and partially on, Gin.
His stomach had thankfully calmed itself overnight, but as he began to actually listen in on the news that was quietly playing on the television, he realized something strange.
"Did I just sleep for nearly a day?" he asked as he considered getting up... but then realized he had nothing on the agenda for the month and decided to stay put until he began feeling uncomfortable. It would inevitably happen, so he was fine with enjoying the moment as it was.
"You did," Gin replied, a tiny hint of humor to his words as he offered another bite of Poptart.
Pyre accepted, nibbling a corner before he heard Gin speak again.
"Did I wake you up?"
That question had him glancing up at the guy. He had a faint blush on his face, but he knew that the color was normally part of who Gin was. He got embarrassed and nervous pretty easily.
"Not the way I wanted you to," Pyre eventually replied before yawning.
When he opened his eyes back up, the color on Gin's face had darkened considerably.
You're so fucking cute.
"You're thinking strange things... I just know it," Gin said before he suddenly disappeared, shrinking down into the form of his fluffy fat cat.
Pyre grabbed the remaining tiny portion of Poptart and tossed it into his mouth, then grabbed his new fuzzy friend from his unnecessary clothing before tugging him into a tight hug. The chubby creature was purring like a motorboat in seconds as it returned the snuggles, clearly quite happy with the suffocating cuddles it was receiving.
"You are so fucking adorable. Don't ever change," he said with a cheeky grin on his face.
The cat seemed to agree with his request because it squirmed a little to get more comfortable in his arms, then settled down for a cat nap with quiet snoring and little foot-kicks from exciting dreams, included.
Now I really can't get up.
He paused for a moment, then reached down and tugged up the blankets so that they were mostly over his and the cat's shoulders.
Wait. How can he fall asleep so quickly?
The faint sound of the door being nudged open drew his attention past his fluffy friend.
Fen...
"Oh, good. He hadn't slept much last night because he was studying for his exams for today."
