Chapter 18: Action

Outskirts of Wellston:

Undisclosed Location, 11:50 AM

Leilah's car pulled up to the facility and the three exited the vehicle once it came to a stop. John couldn't help but look around and see the significant difference in appearance compared to the other facility he had been to. 

Unlike the last, which looked like a dark prison, this one was more 'friendly' looking and bright, leaving out the prison feel altogether. Yet to some, John looked at Seraphina, it may feel like more of a prison than anything else.

Meanwhile, the black van which Arlo was driving had pulled up a considerable distance away from the facility in order to stay undetected. They had devised a plan that John would notify them through a device once he and Seraphina had accomplished their goal. 

They weren't here to fight, but also weren't just going to back down if something made them which is why they all were wearing dark clothing, which covered most of their skin, and had a variety of masks prepared.

"So Sera, I don't believe we had a chance to renew your ability last time we were together" Leilah brought up. "We might as well today since we are here."

"Yeah, I think that's a good idea, I could use the refresh" Seraphina agreed.

John remained silent most of the time, checking the surroundings and noticing the abnormally large amount of guards and workers that were around.

"Leilah" John spoke up.

Leilah stopped and turned around.

"I can't help but notice the guards. Is it normally this busy?" John asked.

"Well, we recently upped the security due to suspicions of a possible attack" Leilah answered.

'WHAT!' John and Seraphina simultaneously thought.

'There is no way she would know!' John thought.

"Who are you expecting an attack from" John probed.

"The authorities" Leilah answered bluntly.

'Phew' both Seraphina and John thought.

Leilah turned back around and continued walking, signaling for John and Seraphina to follow. They all soon entered the building and made their way to Leilah's office where John would stay while she and Seraphina went to renew her powers.

 Once inside the office, John was told to wait there until their return. Once they left however, John sprung into action, getting up and looking out the door to watch them round the corner. It was now his job to follow them passively and make it look like he belonged.

'This is going to be interesting... I hope the lab is close, this act probably won't keep up if I run into someone who knows what they are doing" thought John.

He continued walking, trying his best to be inconspicuous, until he stopped right behind a corner as he watched Leilah and Sera come to a stop before a door. Leilah seemed to be swiping a key card to grant her access.

'Shit, this is my only chance! I need to run in now while I still can and start this!' John realized.

Just as he was about to go, John felt a hand grab his shoulder causing him to turn around in surprise.

"DOC!" John yelled. "What are you doing here!"

"SHHHHHHHHHH!" Doc blew in his face. "Shut up and follow me."

"Okay..." John agreed.

Doc led John to his office this time and locked the door behind them to ensure their privacy. Once John knew they were alone he spoke up.
