TBATE - Knowledge is power (being rewritten)

Part 30

Arthur Leywin POV

After leaving Tess in the training room I began my patrol with my heart still pounding. I walked through the hallways constantly using earth pulse as usual. Another technique I had begun to begin to use was sensing through the water vapour in the air. I called it Vapour plane. It was an extremely difficult concept to get the hang of but if I could use it like I was breathing then it would not only keep me safe from trouble at all times but it would also let me feel the slightest movements in people's movements allowing me to accurately predict where they were going. By using these two techniques I knew I was being watched.

I couldn't help but smile. It really had been a while.

Alea.

It seemed she was accompanied by another one of the Lances and the director. The only problem was it was Lance Bairon. But they weren't the only ones. Seconds after I settled the feeling of annoyance in my heart I was attacked.

Two people who had sickly grey skin and drool flowing from their mouth stood in front of... Lucas Wykes. This is what Claire was talking about the people enhanced by elixirs. The only problem was they seem to inevitably die after taking it from mana leakage. However just by looking at them I knew exactly what was going on. The elixir was converting their lifespan into magical power. One was a student I had already had an encounter with Charles Ravenpour and the other was a large chubby student I didn't know.

I can probably remove the elixir whilst taking the three down. But I am being watched by Bairon and the director so I can't reveal my true strength.

"Today you meet your end, you commoner!" Lucas shouted.

It seems I didn't teach him enough of a lesson. I'll reveal some of my cards since Alea has probably said some things about me.

Bairon Wykes POV

"That's him, Bairon." Alea said to me. "He is really strong and also we are pretty close."

This boy was scarily in tune with magic. I hate to admit it but this commoner is a genius. I could just feel the slight earth pulses he seems to use. His range was massive covering almost the entire campus. With the war seeming more and more likely I have no doubt this boy will be a strong force for Dicathen.

"It does seem like he is fairly talented. But Lucas is a wykes and it is only natural he is stronger." Lucas was my precious brother and although he does have a condescending attitude I still love him unconditionally.

*cough* I turned to director goodsky, my former mentor. "Bairon, I understand your brother is talented but Arthur Leywin has proved himself far superior to your brother. After all, he was able to beat him in a spar without using any of his elemental attributes."

What my brother lost to him and that badly.

"I see." Was all I could muster.

Suddenly however there was a large fluctuation of mana and my head snapped to where that boy had been just moments ago.

"Today you meet your end, you commoner!" I heard someone shout. But that someone happened to be my brother. My eyes widened. This was my brother? What was he doing tarnishing our family name?

"I see... They have that." The director muttered.

"What do you mean, director?" I couldn't help but ask.
