CHAPTER 15 - TRAPPED

BREACH ROOM, S.T.A.R. LABS

The team stared at what remained of Speed's suit in silence

Lazuli was this first to break the silence

Lazuli spoke between sobs: "S-speed...he's...he's gone."

Alex: "This wasn't su...I didn't...I'm so sorry."

A tear rolled down Jin's face

Jin: "We lost him."

Trace shook his head in denial: "No, no, no, no, he..."

He ran over to the computer by Jin: "He could've got knocked somewhere or maybe even run there."

The Luxray pressed some buttons on the computer and brought up the satellite to track Speed. But it found nothing

Trace: "Nothing on the GPS."

Alex went over to his computer: "There were strikes all over the building."

He went on comms: "CC, come down here, please."

The comms remained silent

Alex: "CC? Gai?"

Lazuli stopped sobbing, her cheeks were stained with tears. Alfred looked at the Umbreon with worry

The three ran out of the room to check on Gai and CC

LOBBY

It didn't take them long to find them. The two remained side by side completely still

Both Alex and Alfred shouted: "Oh, Arceus, no!"

Lazuli and Alfred ran over to Gai while Alex ran to his daughter CC

Alfred: "Gai! Gai, wake up! Can you hear me?"

Alex started to preform CPR on the Glaceon: "CC, CC!"

After a few seconds, Gai's eyes fluttered open and he started to groan. He sat back up

Gai: "Stop yelling, please."

Alex felt for a pulse, but there was nothing

Alex: "Her heart stopped. Her heart stopped!"

He continued with the CPR for a few more seconds, finally the Glaceon gasped but remained unconscious

Alex sighed in relief: "It's beating. Her heart's beating."

Lazuli looked at Alfred: "Jin's a doctor. He should see her."

Alfred nodded and put both his paws on Gai's shoulders: "I'm so glad you're okay."

Gai turned to look at Lazuli: "Hey, what's with him?"

Lazuli's voice broke: "It's Speed. Speed's gone."

Gai was confused, what happened to Speed

Before he could ask questions, Lazuli spoke again

Lazuli: "We should get you home, get some rest, okay?"

She pulled the Umbreon up and the two left the room

BREACH ROOM

Jin kept staring at the suit lost in thought

Alfred ran into the room: "Jin, Alex's daughter is upstairs. The energy hit her too. Her heart stopped beating."

Jin remained silent while Trace walked over to the piece of fabric

Alfred shouted: "Jin!"

Jin snapped out of his thoughts: "Alright."

The Jolteon stood back up and the two started to walk away.
