I woke up in tears sporadically
The trees heard my hushed sobs
My heart was beating out of my chest
It felt as though my lungs had ruptured
Prying my eyes open
Attempting to stay awake
Afraid to go back to sleep
I know what I would see
The creature that haunts me
The one that hunts me down and kills me
Every night without failBad dreams suck; there are not enough pretty words to make it not so.
